CFL SIM: STAMPEDERS ROUT ALOUETTES 47-20

CALGARY – The virtual Calgary Stampeders overcame a slow start to trample the Montreal Alouettes 47-20 in the CFL SIM season-opener for both squads Friday night at McMahon Stadium.

In a computer-simulated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football by Nelson Hackewich, the Alouettes jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before Bo Levi Mitchell stormed back with 434 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Horsemen before a sold-out crowd.

UofR Rams grad Richie Sindani was Bo Levi’s favourite target, making 12 grabs for 155 yards. Hergy Mayala and Josh Huff caught the touchdowns while Ka’Deem Carey contributed 56 yards to lead all Stamps rushers.

The Alouettes (0-1) couldn’t capitalize on the heroics of QB Vernon Adams Jr. who magically threw for 529 yards and one touchdown. He was picked off on three occasions. B.J. Cunningham WENT OFF for the Als with 221 yards receiving and a touchdown. James Wilder Jr. – in his Montreal debut – had 47 yards rushing on 21 carries.

The Stamps (1-0) led 10-6 after the first quarter, 37-6 at halftime and carried a 41-11 lead into the fourth quarter before several Stamps fans headed to the exits early.

Calgary returns to action on Thursday Night Football when they host the BC Lions (0-1). The Alouettes visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (0-0) in the Riders’ home-opener on Friday, June 19 at 7:00 pm MT at Mosaic Stadium.
