CFL SIM TURKEY DAY CLASH: ARGOS BOUNCE ALS FROM PLAYOFF PICTURE
MONTREAL – As far as CFL SIM games go, Monday’s Argonauts-Alouettes clash at Percival Molson Stadium was a bit of a turkey.
In a computer-simulated Week 18 game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, Boris Bede booted four field goals against his former club as the Toronto Argonauts rode off with a 16-9 victory over the Alouettes in a game devoid of touchdowns.
With the loss, the Alouettes were eliminated from 2020 CFL SIM playoff contention with two games to go.
Before a virtually sold-out crowd at McGill, the Argos led 8-0, 8-4 and 8-7 by quarter.
Argos QB Matt Nichols threw for 218 yards and 1 interception. His top targets were Llevi Noel (73 yards), Juwan Brescacin (42 yards) and Davaris Daniels (38 yards). RB Marcus Thigpen finished the day with 41 yards rushing. Defensively, Drake Nevis and Jeff Knox Jr. both recorded sacks while Crezdon Butler notched an interception.
Alouettes QB Vernon Adams Jr. tossed for 294 yards and two of his receivers had big days in a losing cause: Naaman Roosevelt (101 yards) and Jake Weineke (100 yards). RB James Wilder Jr. had 77 yards rushing. DB Monshadrik Hunter had a pick while kicker Tyler Crapigna went 2/2 on field goals (47 and 22 yards).
Don’t forget last week CFL SIM Commissioner Andy Rambrosie announced the 2020 Playoffs will feature a Top 6 format rather than the usual East vs West playdown. Here’s a look at where we stand with three weeks to go in the regular season:
