CFL SIM WEEK 4 TRIPLEHEADER: ALOUETTES, ESKIMOS, ARGOS WIN!
MONTREAL 16 OTTAWA 12
The Alouettes won their virtual 2020 CFL SIM season home-opener in a tale of two halves at Percival Molson Stadium. Montreal QB Vernon Adams Jr. ended the first half with a 44-yard TD bomb to B.J. Cunningham for a 13-0 lead at the break. The Als defense was stifling in the opening 30 minutes with Junior Luke registering three sacks and John Bowman counting one of his own. Montreal led the game 7-0, 13-0 and 13-8 by quarter.
The RedBlacks controlled the pace in the second half, driving with a minute to go before Montreal’s Money Hunter picked off Ottawa QB Nick Arbuckle on the Montreal 5-yard line with five seconds to go. Vernon Adams ran the clock out to improve Montreal’s record to 1-2 while Ottawa fell to 0-3.
EDMONTON 13 WINNIPEG 6
Eskimos QB Trevor Harris recovered from throwing a second quarter interception to the Bombers’ Mercy Maston and connected with Ricky Collins Jr. for a 77-yard pass-and-run TD in the fourth quarter as Edmonton ran its record to 4-0 with a 13-6 victory over Winnipeg in Week 4 of the 2020 CFL SIM season.
In a computer-generated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, Bomber QB Zach Collaros led the Bombers on a potentially game-tying drive in the final minute of the fourth quarter. However Bomber WR Daniel Petermann was tackled on the Edmonton 3-yard line as time ran out, denying overtime.
Winnipeg led 1-0, 5-0 and 5-3 by quarter however a 10-point fourth quarter powered Edmonton to the victory, as the Esks remain the CFL SIM West Division’s lone unbeaten team.
The loss dropped the Bombers to 1-2.
TORONTO 33 CALGARY 6
At BMO Field, watch out for the Argos! Toronto LB Bear Woods opened the game with a Pick 6 on Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell and that set the tone for the day. Argos receiver Natey Adjei torched the Stamps defense for a 52-yard TD pass from Matt Nichols in the second quarter as the Argos led 27-3 at halftime.
Toronto kicker Boris Bede added a pair of second half field goals as the Argos romped to a 33-6 victory and a 3-0 record under virtual rookie head coach Ryan Dinwiddie.
