CHAMBLIN NEWS CONFERENCE
Here are the notes and quotes from Rider head coach Corey Chamblin’s news conference Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium in advance of the CFL WSF:
– Darian’s progressed a great deal but he’s not ready to take a hit right now. (That’s why he’s not on the roster). Especially on that elbow. As time goes on and as we progress through the playoffs I hope to see him.
– Our playoff experience is good for the emotional side but football’s football. But there’s a lot of experience on the coaches’ side and Chris will have his guys fired up. Young guys just play.
– Year by year you deal with the cold. We have some guys that’ve dealt with it, true, but we have new guys too. It’s how you groom them in the cold over the past few weeks.
– There’s been so much info about their QBs, I’m prepared to play both of them. Mike Reilly could play the second play of the game and we’ll be ready for him.
– Reilly’s a tailback with a ball in his hands. Like Darian. He’ll pull it down and extend plays. Matt’s more of a pocket passer.
– Our players know what to expect in a big game. That’s how last year is a factor.
– We’re gonna run the ball and everyone understands that. We’ve gone from one running back to two to three. We’ll do whatever it takes.
– It was warmer here today than it’s been all week in Regina. But our guys are good with the cold. We’ve seen every condition that we could see. We deal with the wind every day.
Nice going city if Regina/Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club, a new stadium build with no roof.
Yea, if only the Feds had come up with $100 million or so to throw in the pot and perhaps $200 a barrel for oil, the dream could have come true.
