CHRISTION JONES PLACED ON 6-GAME INJURED LIST

REGINA – Labour Day Weekend was a costly one for skilled players across the CFL.
Roughriders Head Coach & GM Chris Jones reported on Thursday that kick returner Christion Jones suffered a lower body injury in Sunday’s 31-23 Labour Day Classic victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Jones said Jones has been placed on the 6-game Injured List.
At the time of his injury, Christion Jones led the CFL in kickoff return yards and was #2 in punt return yards, including a touchdown.
Regarding a replacement, Chris Jones said, “We’ll go with the ones who finished the game on Sunday.”
Those are veteran Marcus Thigpen and rookie Kyran Moore, who returned kicks in Thursday’s practice.
The Riders head to Winnipeg on Friday morning and visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Banjo Bowl on Saturday (2:00 pm Sask Time, TSN, 620 CKRM Rider Radio Network.)

CALGARY – The Calgary Stampeders have lost their top receiver for the rest of the season.
Kamar Jorden underwent season-ending knee surgery on Thursday.
Jorden suffered the injury while making a block during the second quarter of Calgary’s win over the visiting Edmonton Eskimos on Monday.
The fifth-year Stampeder is second in the league with a career-high 944 receiving yards this season.

EDMONTON – Edmonton Eskimos receiver Derel Walker will be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a knee injury.
The CFL team made the announcement Thursday.
Walker was hurt when he took a hit from Calgary Stampeders defensive back Tre Roberson on Monday. The same two teams meet Saturday in Edmonton.
Walker is fourth in the league this year with 875 receiving yards. He is tied for the league lead with eight receiving touchdowns.
The Eskimos (6-5) have dropped three of their past four and two straight, dropping them behind the second-place Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-4) in the CFL West standings.

HAMILTON – Head coach June Jones isn’t optimistic about receiver Jalen Saunders returning to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats anytime soon.
Saunders was carried off the field with an apparent knee injury in the second quarter of Hamilton’s 42-28 home win over the Toronto Argonauts on Monday and didn’t return.
On Wednesday, Jones suggested Saunders’ injury was season-ending.
“I think we got bad news,” Jones told reporters at Tim Hortons Field. “I’m not sure exactly what it all entails but it sounds like he’s out for the year.”
Hamilton (5-6) will face Toronto (3-7) in the Labour Day rematch Saturday afternoon at BMO Field.
The five-foot-nine, 171-pound Saunders was enjoying a solid 2018 campaign with 45 catches for 739 yards and two TDs. Saunders, 25, had 76 catches for 1,170 yards and four touchdowns last season, his first with Hamilton.
It’s the second significant blow to Hamilton’s receiving corps in consecutive games. Speedster Chris Williams suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the Ticats’ 25-24 home win over Edmonton on Aug. 23.
