Well this changes everything.

In one of those – “You’d have to be here to believe it” stories, or at least, “You’d have to have been watching to believe it”, the Roughriders upset the BC Lions 34-29 Sunday night at Mosaic Stadium to close out Week 11 in the CFL.

Saskatchewan literally defied all odds for the victory, as third string quarterback Jake Dolegala threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns in a game where the stats severely flattered BC.

The Lions really didn’t bother to show up at all, other than quarterback Vernon Adams, who heroically threw for 455 yards in a loss.

BC should’ve flown V.A. back to Vancouver in first class and made everyone else take the bus. They trailed all game including 24-13 at halftime and 31-13 going into the fourth quarter. They finally decided to start playing in the fourth quarter but by then it was too late.

It was clearly a very inspiring and motivational win for the Riders who improved to 5-5 and possibly turned their season around after losing four of their last five games.

However I’m still not ready to dismiss the notion that it’s “The 1990s all over again” for Saskatchewan. Those old enough to remember will recall a time when Sask lost the games they were supposed to win and won the games they weren’t supposed to.

This was one of those. And judging by the spotty attendance at Mosaic, the citizens of the 306 feel the same way.

But no matter … for those same people, it’s an “Up Week” and I’m happy for them..

Across the CFL, Edmonton upset Hamilton 24-10, Montreal pants’ed Ottawa 25-24 and Winnipeg took a 19-18 win out of Calgary in a game I attended.

There was intrigue in them all.

And if you’re the CFL, you’ve gotta love that.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Dickey continues to make coaching miscues and did it again with the time clock violation where he should have called a Time Out. Yes, you can equally blame Dolegala for not running the play in time, I actually blame them both. If that would have cost them the game, Dickenson would be done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Rod, the difference in this game from the Montreal game was rest and a change at QB…, Only thing the same was coaching, Dickinson needed to call time instead of losing a down. I hope he learns from his mistake…., Big Jake needs the keys to the car, let him drive!

Bottle the water the boys were drinking last night and feed it to them prior to every game. That is how you PLAY FOOTBALL. How do you go from such a horrible game in Montreal to a great Game last night where the team show all kinds of heart last night. In Saskatchewan you do not have to win every night but you sure better show up to play every night.
