If you’re a football fan, I have bad news.

You’re officially in the worst time of the year.

However the good news is, for CFL fans, it’s not going to last long.

The NFL and CFL Drafts were both held in the past week and after that, it’s pretty bleak. Somewhere I heard there’s zippo on the NFL radar till minicamps open June 13. But they gotta fill the airwaves with something.

Not sure about you but I can’t turn on the radio nor pass a TV screen without hearing the talking heads discussing Bill Belichick and his 24-year old girlfriend. It’s everywhere.

I had no choice but to learn that her name is Jordon Hudson, and there’s a 49-year age gap between the two. And the pundits are discussing the fact she cut an interview with CBS and her beau short because she didn’t like the line of questioning.

Honestly, why would I care?

But lately I’ve learned to just go with the flow. Instead of paddling your canoe against the current, flip it around and head downstream.

I can tell you, it’s a helluva lot more peaceful.

There will be plenty of thoughts about Belichick in my weekend newsletter column. (Sign up for free today at RodPedersenDotCom). I can assure you very little will have to do with Bill’s love life, and a lot more to do with his football life. To be honest, that’s far more fascinating for me. And let’s not forget former Rider coach Chris Jones has an office just down the hall of Belichick in North Carolina.

Thank God CFL rookie camps open May 7 and if you check the calendar, that’s just next week. Where exactly did the critics of moving up the schedule go??

This used to be a realllllll dull time in football on both sides of the border but thankfully, not anymore. CFL types are already in the office getting ready for the start of the season. And there’s actually lots to discuss there, if you look for it. Like for instance, will Indiana’s Kurtis Rourke ever play a game for Saskatchewan after being drafted in Round 3 on Tuesday night? It’s a great topic for a Football Friday.

It seems to be win-win. There was always the argument that the CFL didn’t want to compete for eyeballs with the Stanley Cup Playoffs but I never really understood that idea.

Can’t we follow both?

It’s not 1975. Nor for that matter, is it 2005.

Let’s give ourselves a little credit, and stay away from the Fake News.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

….sigh poor Bill. This happens when a man like Bill loses his “identity” He grew up in a film room at the naval academy. He played catch with Roger Staubach. 50+ years in the NFL. 6 Super Bowls and less that 15 games short of Don Shula’s record. His former employer sabotaged his opportunity with Atlanta. He is either known as Bill Parcells former assistant coach OR the guy Nick Saban worked for…… A broken marriage. Adult kids….the list goes on. Word of wise to men. Stay off of dating apps and stay far away from sugardaddy apps. This poor… Read more »
