Commentary: Don’t Miss A Thing

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98)
It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: It’s more than just a commercial, and whoever came up with the slogan “Take An Alberta Break” should’ve won a marketing award. I made the trek westward to Wild Rose Country on Monday for some big events and a pair of RP Shows from Cowtown.
It wasn’t a bad drive at all, and I had Mark and Clint along for the ride to keep me company (Chesnutt and Black). There’s great speakers in my Dodge Hornet courtesy of Western Dodge in Moose Jaw.
Next the great: The biggest reason I’m here is for the Western Canadian Pro Hockey Scouting Foundation Wall of Fame induction Tuesday night, and my dad Jim Pedersen going in along with 28 of his scouting buddies.
Last night in the hotel lobby as we were setting up for the RP Show, those hockey guys strolled by and we caught up on old times. Guys like Stu McGregor (Kamloops/Edmonton), Carter Sears (Red Deer/St. Louis) and Lorne Frey (Swift Current/Kelowna) stopped to inspect things, and tell a few stories.
Turns out they’re regular viewers of the RP Show and were eager to offer their thoughts on the sports world, and my life.
They’re scouts! They don’t miss a thing. And these guys are the best as evidenced by the fact they’re going into the Hall of Fame tonight in Okotoks. They’re a fraternity too.
It would be nice to do a media hall of fame but we wouldn’t be able to stop fighting long enough to organize it. Speaking of ….
And finally the ugly: This final topic is millions of miles away from the purview of the hockey people, but it’s a little annoying when my phone is blowing up with people alerting me to the latest Twitter war between TSN’s Luke Willson and media personality Michael Ball.
So of course I had to interrupt the hotel lobby revelry to see what all the fuss was about. All it did was turn my stomach..
Ya – I’ve been in my share of tussles, but haven’t for years. I think we’ve demonstrated the ability to attract an audience without being a circus act/greasefire.
I have a very tough time believing this is something the CFL would want.

I actually learned how to at a very basic level “scout” from Jim. It applies to business performance. Watch what they do – make a check when you view something good. Sounds simple?….hardly. Those guys are 5 level chess masters. Guys like me go get them coffee. Young Luke Willson. I messaged him to contact Rod Pedersen. If there was ever two brothas from different mothas. He needs to seek wise counsel from an experienced can chew grid road battled tested man. These young guys do not have Clint Black or Mark Chestnut. Guys like us have to school them.… Read more »
