A coupla thoughts headed into the weekend:

#1 – I know the vast majority of hockey fans are against the shootout being used to decide games but I’ve always been a fan of it.

And with the advent of 3-on-3 overtime, the number of shootouts we see has gone wayyyyy down meaning when we get ‘em, they’re special.

That was the case in Sunrise last night as the Florida Panthers battled back from a third period deficit and defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in a shootout. Anton Lundell scored the winner and nobody left their seats.

Comeback Cats indeed, and it feels like it’ll be another long playoff run this spring.

#2 – Still trying to get my head around the NFL news this week that in the NFL Players Assocation anonymous poll, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs were ranked – by their own players – as having the second-worst facilities and team staff, and owner Clark Hunt was given an “F”.

Unbelievable!

This says so many things and it’s got the sports world buzzing. Some feel the survey results shouldn’t have been made public but I say “Hogwash with that!”

The public needs to know the work conditions people deal with – in sports and otherwise – and it would put a lot of owners to shame.

For what it’s worth, the Miami Dolphins were voted #1 for treating their players the best while the Washington Commanders were dead-last.

My Dallas Cowboys were ranked 12th.

That’s it for now. Enjoy the weekend!

The NHL playoffs can’t get here soon enough. 1) Florida – I encourage people get the NHL package. That team is loaded top to bottom times two. Boston is in that mix but they’ve been winning so long people don’t consider them. Toronto probably due to Canadian media hype is in the conversation. When Tampa rag dolled Toronto last playoffs I don’t have much hope that anything has changed. Ryan Reaves will not even be dressed for playoffs. I’m just happy it worked out down there. The Owner – same as the guy who owns Vegas. Both graduates of the… Read more »

These would be the same people writing into Peter King and telling him he’s not focusing enough on the CFL/Roughriders. – I know a guy that has been a Dolphins fan since they were beaten by the 49’ers in 1985. I am one guy that could read this website and if all you put on here was college football based out of the SEC and ACC – FAU; I knew about long before Lane Kiffin ever arrived on scene. Howard Schnellenburg is another reason why so called Hall of Fames no longer matter. This guy built from ground 0 –… Read more »

Agreed… Nobody cares about the Panthers in Saskatchewan (or Florida for that matter).

They don’t even know hockey. Anyone that complains about shoot outs. They didn’t see the det/chi game with Kane getting the winner. Instead yeah 1988 end in a 2-2 tie. It’s the reason why every game from start to finish is a game 7. Every point counts. As for roughrider news. This blog basically carries that minor league franchise. …..I could point you in the direction of a certain riders podcast. Their reference points can’t extend past 2015. ……dead franchise. It will take 20 yrs to resurrect it and that’s if the league is even around. It was a colorful… Read more »
