A coupla three or more Grey Cup thoughts entering the weekend:

#1 – Not sure if it’s because of a potentially lopsided match-up in Sunday’s 111th Grey Cup – Winnipeg is favoured by 10 points over Toronto at BC Place – but the buzz here in Vancouver has very little to do with the game.

Perhaps that’s always the case. I don’t really remember. But the impending quarterback carousel is what the media types and fans are discussing the most, from what I hear.

Tre Ford is expected to be on the move out of Edmonton, Vernon Adams out of BC, and even Bo Levi Mitchell could have played his last game for Hamilton.

The pundits figure the Riders will be in on one, or maybe all of them.

Personally I’d be very disappointed if Trevor Harris isn’t quarterbacking Saskatchewan in Week 1.

#2 – The coaching rumours are juicy! The latest I heard is that Rick Campbell is leaving BC to takeover the sidelines of the Edmonton Elks, with Ed Hervey as General Manager! As for the Lions, the story goes that Ryan Rigmaiden is going to be named GM, current co-GM Neil McEvoy is going to move upstairs, and Buck Pierce will be the next head coach.

We’ll see!

#3 – Commissioner Randy Ambrosie will hand out the Grey Cup for the last time, to Sunday’s winner, after seven years on the job.

Fans wanna know who the replacement will be, but precious few names are coming forward.

For what it’s worth, from my vantage point, if the next Commissioner of the CFL is not Mike Morreale, it’ll be a fail.

#4 – The campaign against Bo Levi Mitchell winning the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award apparently worked. Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira won the trophy Thursday night and let’s be honest, he’s a worthy winner after being runner-up last year.

But Bo ended up being the bridesmaid this time around, despite having the best individual season in the CFL this year. The CFL’s big voices said Mitchell can’t win the award because the Ticats missed the playoffs, and the voters fell in line.

/sarcastic thumbs up

#5 – Of course there’s the game. All signs clearly point to a Bomber victory, whatwith back-up quarterback Nick Arbuckle starting for Toronto.

But I always like to go against the grain and if there’s one thing I know, it’s never to bet against Pinball (Argos GM Mike “Pinball” Clemons).

I’ve been caught on that before.

Never again.

A never again moment should be this: Darrell Davis is a disgrace to sports journalism and a reason why “mainstream” media such as the Leader Post is going the way of the dinosaur or at least the NDP. It’s owned by the postmedia network – and part of one centralized message. If anyone recalls the losers of “occupy wallstreet”? – they infiltrated various Boards and threaten. This is why all season this guy will not get off the Chad Kelly issue and he’ll take his pulpit and use it as a chance to ruin an event or question Pinball Clemons… Read more »
