COMMENTARY – NO COMPLAINTS

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)

Wednesdays are for random thoughts on this commentary and I’ve got a few. Here goes ..

#1 – As I write this, they’re interviewing Brooke Henderson on Sportsnet about this week’s LPGA Canadian Womens Open in Vancouver. It’s the five-year anniversary of Brooke winning the same tourney at the Wascana Club in Regina, becoming the first Canadian in over 50 years to win it.

It was also my first introduction to big-time golf. I broadcast live from the event and was expecting a golf tournament when I got there. What I got was the Super Bowl!

Hey – I like golf, as long as you don’t ask me to actually do it.

#2 – Do not ever say that the hockey season is too long, nor that the NHL is a-year round league. Heading into my third season covering the Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames up close, I can tell you the off-season really drags!

My best advice to anyone when they find the time long is to distract themself.

#3 – The CFL is a good option. Life’s given me a truly league-wide perspective and I’m grateful for that. Players and coaches from all teams can ring me up with no fear of where it goes!

Optimism reigns in Winnipeg, BC, Toronto and Montreal while pessimism abounds in Hamilton, Ottawa, especially Edmonton, and in growing sections of Calgary.

(It says here the Elks made a good move in hiring Rick LeLacheur as interim President but it’s akin to sending him to the BC wildfires with a bucket of water. Still, I don’t know anyone who’s worked for him who doesn’t like and respect him so this is a start).

Meanwhile the Rider Nation has been buoyed by Sunday’s upset victory over BC and at 5-5, they’re waayyyyy ahead of where I thought they’d be. All that with back-up QBs.

For that I give all the credit to head coach Craig Dickenson.

And #4 – I truly can’t wait for NFL and college football season. Speaking of what life’s brought me, that includes the opportunity to attend these games in-person with the RP Show airing in several NFL markets.

Add it all up and I sure got nothing to complain about today.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

#3 That whole trainwreck in Edmonton sits squarly on the shoulders of the nimwit that gave Chris Jones his ridiculous contract. He should have known better.
Jones is like a Prime Minister we all know, he divides people. He turned a lot of people off in Sask. They stopped attending games and still haven’t returned in full force. Hence the empty seats in Mosiac.
EE will be a long time recovering despite LeLacheur’s best efforts.
