Commentary: Play Ball!
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
In the absence of a commentary on Wednesday, here’s today’s list of random thoughts:
#1 – It was another “Bobbery”. Sergei Bobrovsky posted a 23-save shutout for the Florida Panthers over the Rangers in New York in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Final.
Panthers fans are wild that my co-host and I predicted a 7-game Rangers series win on the Cats N Bolts Podcast this week, but I’m sticking to that.
Remember Boston smashed Florida 5-1 in Game 1 of their second round series only to go onto lose in six.
#2 – I touched down in Canada on Wednesday and in a moment, I’ll tell you why. But in the time since I’ve been relishing the coverage of the NHL on the networks and the vast previews of the Western Conference Final. Edmonton visits Vegas in Game 1 on Thursday night.
It feels as though the Oilers are Canada’s Team the rest of the way. Sure they’re the only Canadian team left but do Canucks actually want them to win and end the 31-year drought?
I feel like they do.
#3 – I’ve returned to the Homeland for a few reasons but primarily it’s to get out of the “disgustingly hot” Florida summer.
That’s the term used by the guy running the storage facility where I left my Jeep before I headed north. It hit 114 degrees Fahrenheit with the humidex in The Keys this week!
One day I’ll have to bite the bullet and endure it all but if I can return to Canada for the summers, I’ll do that as long as I can. If I can make a few bucks while I’m at it, it’s a bonus.
So I’ve secured a gig calling Moose Jaw Millers games on HomeTeam Live for the summer in the Western Canadian Baseball League at Ross Wells Park.
So as far as I’m concerned, it’s time to …
Play ball!
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Omg
Hockey was one thing. Football another.
With your pipes calling a baseball game…..that cadence for a summer.
CEBL Rattlers should be contacting you if you are around these parts.
I would put you on the level of a Reds Marty Brennamen.
Safe travels.
Thank you
Welcome home Rod! I’ll have to tune into some Miller Express games this summer. Looking forward to watching the Berries up here in Saskatoon.
Thank you
