COMMENTARY: TIME AFTER TIME
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First, the good: It’s good when sports intersects with pop culture. But generally very bad when sports intersects with news.
In this case, the phenomen that is Taylor Swift dating Kansas City Chiefs tightend Travis Kelce is nothing but good for the hype associated with it.
And having said that, that’s about all we’re ever going to say about it here. It’s fun, I guess, but not nearly as exciting as the actual games.
Hopefully it dies down before Week 4 kicks off.
Next, the great: It was obviously great to be in the newly-named Amerant Bank Arena for an NHL preseason doubleheader on Monday between the Nashville Predators and hometown Florida Panthers. Fans could get in for just $15 which is pretty good for an NHL game!
The Panthers swept the doubleheader by scores of 5-2 and 5-0 and coach Paul Maurice admitted that based on the rosters, his team should’ve won both games handily.
Most of all it was a treat to watch Florida MVP Matthew Tkachuk live again. Did you know his 213 points the past two seasons are #3 in the NHL in that time behind only Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Final assessment: The Panthers are ready for the season to start.
And lastly, the Ugly: Please don’t let this Fall go down in history as the one where hockey coaches bit the dust before they even hit Thanksgiving weekend. (Canadian)
We all know what happened in Columbus with Mike Babcock and on Monday the WHL suspended Wenatchee Wild coach Kevin Constantine for unknown reasons pending a full review. Constantine, of course, comes with a fairly harsh reputation after stints on the bench with Pittsburgh, San Jose and Everett.
I’ll save you the time; don’t text me asking what happened because I don’t know and don’t wanna know.
What I do wonder is how this keeps happening time after time?
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

A long time ago in my early childhood development I watches a documentary called Slap Shot. Moe Wanchuck told Johnny Upton while day drinking in a bar watching a soap opera; “that c$@# is no good.” Travis Kelce is a complete fool. That pig would not know if the ball was filled with air or feathers and the reaction she had when he scored….you would have thought she was a fan since the days of Hank Stramm telling Len Dawson to matriculation down the field. She is using him and he is going to end up a fool in a… Read more »
As usual, Obama – what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
