Commentary: Time For Summer
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for another edition of the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: The Stanley Cup could get handed out tonight in Sunrise. That’s the plan anyways, for the Florida Panthers and their long-suffering fans, as they lead the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in the Stanley Cup Final.
However an Oilers win would send the series back to Oil Country for a Game 6 on Friday and the fact is Oiler fans have actually been waiting the longer. It’s been since 1990 since they last won a Cup, and that’s longer than when the Panthers came into the league in 1993.
But Florida’s never won a Cup. And it’s time.
Time for summer too.
Next the great: Here’s to new friendships and new opportunities! On today’s RP Show live from the Golden Ticket Sports Centre in Moose Jaw, I’ll be joined by Miller Express shortstop Bobby Pokorney.
You may know him better by his nickname “Bobby Biceps” but he’s my favourite Millers player and I don’t care if the others know.
The Margate, Florida product has chutzpah. Pizzaz. A certain Je ne sais quoi. He’s the best player on the Millers too; a senior from Keystone College.
He wrote me last night saying how much he’s looking forward to the interview.
They still exist.
And lastly the ugly: The Roughriders have won back-to-back road games to open a season for the first time in franchise history. That feels hard to believe but if Rob Vanstone says it, it’s gotta be true.
At 2-0, the Riders are atop the CFL West with a rookie head coach.
So what’s this I see from fans who are critical of the lack of a running attack? Or saying the team needs to change things up in order to win games by more?
Nope.
Nope, nope, nope.
That’s ugliness, and I’m glad I don’t have to respond to that crap anymore. The time is winning, enjoy it!
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary
