It’s Tuesday and time for this week’s edition of the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: If you love basketball, March Madness tips off this week and will run for three weeks. If you dislike college basketball, March Madness tips off on Thursday and will only last three weeks!

Seriously though, I’ve found myself watching more womens hockey than college hoops but I can get engaged for a couple weeks because it’ll be fun.

As is tradition, I’ll fill out a bracket but have never come close to winning.

Next the great: This is edge-of-your-seat stuff! Every year we say the NHL playoff push is the best-ever but there’s never been a race like the one in the Central Division where there’s a three-way tie for first place with less than 20 games to go!

Dallas, Winnipeg and Colorado are in that logjam and here’s the wildest guarantee you’ll ever hear: one of those teams won’t survive the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Crazy!

And lastly, the ugly: It’s been a couple weeks since the NHL trade deadline yet fans can’t get over the tactics used by Vegas to “circumvent” the salary cap and add star players like Tomas Hertl and Noah Hanifin.

No rules were broken, and the Golden Knights aren’t apologizing for anything. That’s the McCrimmon way.

Yet one fan wrote me last night and said “When you circumvent the rules, that’s cheating.”

What do you do when both sides present their case but one won’t accept it, and still wants to argue?

You stop fighting, and walk away.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 5 pm on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)

“Cheating”. Typical Hockey Regina losers. Point in why they never win anything in life. Kelly McCrimmon from day 1. He read the collective agreement and most likely the NHL rulebook. Then said okay this is the game within the game and he won that. These nhl teams all screwed up there salary management systems and that’s how he built a competitive roster out of the gate. He is using the the rules as they are You know who did that? It wasn’t Tom Brady. It was Bill Belichik 40 yr right hand man Ernie Adams. When you see all these… Read more »
