Commentary: What Hasn’t?

Quite a weekend it was, but nothing too wild.

As promised, I got the great chance to take in the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat from the Kaseya Center on Friday, just off the spectacular Port of Miami.

As expected, the Raps didn’t put up much of a fight against the playoff-bound Heat, losing by 22 that night and then by 15 on Sunday to wrap up their season.

But they tried hard – I mean that – and it was a thrill to see Gary Trent Jr. and Canadian Kelly Olynyk play live.

It actually made me feel bad for referring to them as “the Craptors” this season.

I just find the name so funny!

Saturday was filled with a doubleheader of sorts, attending the USA Football Flag playoff tourney in Wellington, then the Sabres & Panthers in Sunrise.

Sunday was supposed to be a day of rest like the Lord intended, but I found myself out and about, dropping by the field in Fort Lauderdale where the Roughriders were holding a one-day free agent tryout camp.

But I was there two hours too early, and after chatting with a couple of eager hopefuls who were there far too early themselves, I was on my merry way.

The football people tell me these camps have changed so I was interested to see how, but not interested enough to sit in the Florida sun for two hours for nothing.

And as is the usual Masters Sunday tradition, I was hoping to get some drama out of Augusta but that didn’t happen. I kept checking the app but Scottie Scheffler was leading wire-to-wire and frankly, to me, there was no reason to flip it on.

We heard Tiger was playing but he was nowhere near contention. In fact his 16-over was the highest score of his career. And didja know Phil Mickelson was playing too? You wouldn’t have known it by the pre-Masters coverage and he finished nowhere near the leaders.

I guess the face of golf has changed too.

Would you mind telling me what hasn’t?

your arrogance – hasn’t changed. It’s been that way in PA, Regina, Calgary and wherever else you hang your hat from month to month
