CONFIRMED: SJHL HIRES NEW PRESIDENT, KYLE MCINTYRE

Sources tell RodPedersen.com that Kyle McIntyre of Swift Current has been hired as the new President of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

This week it was learned the SJHL had indeed hired a successor to Bill Chow, who’s retiring from the position after the 2021-22 season following 10 great years in the role. This weekend, a hockey source indicated it’s McIntyre.

*UPDATE*: The hiring of McIntyre has been confirmed by the SJHL.

McIntyre’s Twitter biography reads: “A husband, father, retired educator and coach trying to make a difference where life makes sense.

The Saskatoon product played midget hockey with his hometown Contacts and Blazers before playing four seasons in the SJHL with the Swift Current Indians and Yorkton Terriers. He has also served on the Board of the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos.

The SJHL is in the middle of its Championship Final. The Flin Flon Bombers visit the Estevan Bruins Saturday night at sold-out Affinity Place. The Best of 7 series is tied 2-2. Both teams will advance to the Centennial Cup – the National Junior A Championship – in Estevan May 19-29.

The Rod Pedersen Show will be broadcasting live from Estevan during the Centennial Cup, daily at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV and YouTube Live. Please make plans to join us Thursday, May 26 at the Bruins Sportsmans Dinner featuring a Hot Stove with TSN’s Craig Button, Joe Watson, Mike Butters and Rod. Dear Mr Kyle MacIntyre did you watch the game between the LA Ronge and Melville Millionaires? I would love to hear your opinion. As a hockey fan all I want to do is watch a good junior game and not have the ref’s decide the game before it starts, if that’s the best you have for officials then we might as well not have a hockey game. Is it any wonder why the fights started happening, absolutely the worst game I’ve seen for many years. 10/25/22
