CORNISH OUT FOR SUNDAY

CALGARY – Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish won’t play Sunday in Montreal against the Alouettes to “help recovery from nagging injuries.”

The Stampeders announced on their Twitter account Friday that Cornish will sit out.

Calgary leads the West Division standings with a CFL-best 10-1 record.

Cornish missed six games in July and August with concussion-like symptoms, but has been on a tear in the four contests since his return.

The CFL’s most outstanding player and top rusher last season ranks third in league rushing with 587 in five games.

He sure has been on a tear. If he can come back as strong what a year he will have again. Bad taste in my mouth now.

Probably just a upset stomach from all the "Cornish Flakes" he has been gobbling down.

Smart move by the Stamps. They got 1st locked up tight. Their key to success will be having a healthy roster for the West final. I would love to see a Calgary vs Sask Grey Cup with Durant back in the saddle.

#Riders add national OL Kwinton Albino to practice roster.

Thanks to "The Grren Zone" for keeping the fans up to date before any one else

Why not sit Corndog out for this game? Why risk aggravating his injury instead of saving him for the real game against the Riders in the Western Final. We need Durant healthy too. Hope Durant doesn't try to come back too soon as we need him in the final not in late September. Go Riders

Maybe Riders strategy of 3 Running Backs on the roster and one on Practice Roster has some Merit.

Does anyone know what the injury is? Is it still concussion problems? If so he may have long, long term problems as he goes full out at all times

Sure Cornish sitting out doesn’t have anything to do with the fact Hebert knocked him out the first time these 2 teams met, and he doesn’t want to face him again this year?

I bleed green as much as the rest of you guys but if you look at it realistically as much as I hate him Jon Cornish is the best running back I've ever seen. He goes from trotting waiting for the hole to open to full speed in half a stride.

The guy took his pants down in front of the crowd. If that had been caught on video it would have been on every N. American network. A great back for sure but he actually took his pants down! Good thing he is a great back. ('Boys will be boys' 'a great competitor' and all that stuff)
