DRAISAITL NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince Albert Raiders’ forward Leon Draisaitl is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 9, 2014.  It’s the second Denny’s WHL Player of the Week award of the season for Draisaitl.

Draisaitl netted five goals and four assists for nine points along with a +5 rating over three games in the past week, leading the Raiders to three consecutive wins in that span as they continue their push for a playoff berth.

Draisaitl, an 18-year-old from Cologne, Germany, is in his second season in the WHL with the Prince Albert Raiders.  He has amassed 35 goals and 97 points in 60 games for the Raiders this season, and currently sits among the top five scorers in the WHL.  A top-ranked prospect for the 2014 NHL Draft, Draisaitl has amassed 56 goals and 155 points in 124 career regular-season contests.  Draisaitl was selected by the Raiders with the second overall pick in the 2012 CHL Import Draft.
