DUB ROUND-UP: A FIRKUS HATTIE!

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Jagger Firkus scored a hat trick, with two coming in Moose Jaw’s run of three unanswered goals to pull away, and the Warriors topped the Saskatoon Blades 9-6 on Tuesday night.

Dakota MacIntosh, with two goals, Ethan Semeniuk, Lynden Lakovic, Brayden Yager and Martin Rysavy provided the rest of the offence for Moose Jaw (12-8-0-1). Jackson Unger made 27 saves.

Egor Sidorov, with a hat trick, Misha Volotovskii, Charlie Wright and Brandon Lisowsky scored for Saskatoon (13-6-0).

Austin Elliott surrendered five goals on 21 shots before exiting midway through the contest for Evan Gardner, who stopped 15-of-17 shots for the Blades.

Sidorov knotted the contest at 6-6 with a power-play goal at 13:34 of the second period.

However, Firkus restored the Warriors lead with 52 seconds left in the middle frame. He then scored an empty-net marker with 1:41 left in the third period before Rysavy added another empty-netter for good measure with 31 seconds remaining.

 

 

BRONCOS 6 TIGERS 3

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – Tyson Laventure led the charge with two goals in the Swift Current Broncos 6-3 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Rylan Gould, Caleb Wyrostok, Ryan McCleary and Brady Birnie added the others for Swift Current (10-9-1).

Tyler MacKenzie, Cayden Lindstrom and Gavin McKenna replied for Medicine Hat (13-6-2).

COUGARS 5 GIANTS 0

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Ty Young earned a 32-save shutout as the Prince George Cougars cruised past the Vancouver Giants 5-0 for their third straight win.

Koehn Ziemmer and Riley Heidt each had two goals and two assists, with Hunter Laing scoring the other for Prince George (14-5-0).

Brett Mirwald stopped 22-of-27 shots for Vancouver (7-11-1), which has lost three in a row.

RAIDERS 3 THUNDERBIRDS 2

SEATTLE, Wa. – Niall Crocker had a goal and an assist as the Prince Albert Raiders held on to an early lead to slip past the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2.

Ryder Ritchie and Justice Christensen also scored for Prince Albert (12-9-0-1), which took a 3-0 lead by the 12:27 mark of the first period.

Jeremy Hanzel and Antonio Martorana responded for Seattle (8-6-1).

ROYALS 5 ROCKETS 3

VICTORIA – Deegan Kinniburgh had a goal and an assist in leading the Victoria Royals to a 5-3 win over the Kelowna Rockets.

Robin Sapousek, Dawson Pasternak, Casper Haugen and Matthew Hodson also scored for Victoria (12-8-0-1), which netted five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 edge early in the second period.

Ethan Neutens, Marek Rocak and Tij Iginla provided the offence for Kelowna (7-11-2).
