DURANT UPDATE, RIDER ROSTER MOVES
Mitchell Gale and Darian Durant on Tuesday |
Quarterback Darian Durant was at Saskatchewan Roughriders practice on Tuesday but it was back-up Mitchell Gale who ran the offense in the 90-minute walk-through. This led us to believe Gale will get the start Friday at home against Ottawa (7:00 pm, TSN, 620 CKRM Rider Radio Network).
Durant was injured in Saturday’s 40-27 loss to BC however he believes the injury is not long-term. Durant stood beside Mitchell Gale in the pocket on Tuesday, assisting him with the offense. My guess is Gale will start on Friday and Durant will dress.
After practice Riders Head Coach and GM Chris Jones said it’s “unlikely” Durant will start Friday’s game.
Jones also confirmed Canadian receiver Kris Bastien practiced with the team on Tuesday. Lineman Brendon Labatte and receiver Shamawd Chambers did not practice but Jones said their injuries are not believed to be serious.
If Mitchell Gale starts on Friday, it’ll be his first career CFL start.

Looking forward to a bounce back game by the Riders and to see Gale improve with some practice with the #1's under his belt!!
Let's hope the defense can hold Ottawa to 20 or less.
I think the term "We got that Rider Pride" needs to change for a while. Something like Bon Jovi's "Living on a wing and a prayer" better describes the Riders these last couple years and now this year!
As much as we all want Gale and the Riders to do well this Friday. The reality of a victory with a QB that has never started a CFL game and now has a whole 4 days under his belt with the #1 offence. Playing the hottest team in the league right now is very unlikely.
That makes the win today that much sweeter!!
Well we got em' at 20 or less…..too bad it's only halftime…….maybe we can shut them out in the second half.
