ESKIMOS EXTEND BOWMAN AND SEWELL, AVOIDING FREE AGENCY

The Edmonton Eskimos have extended the contracts of pending free agents Adarius Bowman and Almondo Sewell, keeping the all-star duo in Green and Gold through 2017.
Bowman recorded 1,304 receiving yards on a league-high 93 catches with a career-high seven touchdowns in 17 games (17 starts). He added five 100+ yard receiving games this season, including a 12-catch, 208-yard performance where he hauled in a touchdown pass in Week 18.
During the 103rd Grey Cup Playoffs, the Oklahoma State product recorded six catches for 74 yards and one touchdown in the West Final against Calgary. In the Grey Cup championship game, Bowman had four receptions for 73 yards, highlighted by a 23-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Bowman was named a CFL Player of the Week three times, as well as a CFL Player of the Month for October. He also earned his second consecutive CFL All-Star nod.
Entering his 9th CFL season, Bowman has amassed career totals of 448 catches for 6,729 yards and 34 touchdowns.
He originally signed as a free agent on Jan. 19, 2011 and re-signed on Dec. 3, 2013.

Sewell recorded 35 defensive tackles, four quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and one knockdown in 18 games (18 starts). He started in the West Final against Calgary, recording three tackles and one forced fumble. In the Grey Cup championship game, he recorded three defensive tackles.
Earlier this month, he was named a West Division All Star and a CFL All-Star for the third consecutive season.
Entering his sixth CFL season, the native of Buff Bay, Jamaica, amassed 155 career defensive tackles and 27 quarterback sacks.
Sewell originally signed as a free agent on June 4, 2012 and re-signed Dec. 19, 2013.
Plenty more fish remaining in the sea for the Riders. We need more high quality national players, international players can be found through US free agent and will be a lot cheaper.
And I thought these players were just waiting to come to the Riders. Sorry …. it doesn't work like that.

There will be alot of very disappointed rider fans this year but that is ok just keep drinking that green kool aid. AS for me well I will not be disappointed because I do not think that Jones and Murphy will really accomplish much – just the wrong hires like their recent moves on the players they are keeping but yet good ones are let go.
They need to spend money on defence and I'm sure they're targeting the guys they really want. Sewell and four sacks in the year, hardly too impressive. There will be better options. We've had Bowman before. He's usually lazy and if you smack him a few times, he disappears for the rest of the game. He will revert without Jones. He did little in Edmonton until 2013 when Jones took over. Likely not worth what they paid. Jones knows what was good and he also knows what wasn't.

Glad they are staying in Edmonton and I hope they overpaid for both of them.
I quess EE players really do not care if they play for JONES.
Expect Sherritt as well to sign with EE leaving no really good players to follow Jones to riders.

It wasn't EE players that won the cup, it was good coaching. We will be fine and will not have over paid free agents

Bowman signed for 2 yr 505 000. You think he is worth that much you can have him. Why don't you eskie fans discuss your news on your blogs and sites? With the amount that the Riders are overpaying Durant, Dressler, Chick and LaBatte they have no money for any top free agents anyway.
When Bowman played here he was a bust. I know things have changed, but let him stay in Edmonton.We can get quality American guys at a lesser price, that don't have a lot of history behind them
I guess Sewell and Bowman sensed Jones didn't want them anyway and they'd better sign with the Esks while Hervey is in panic mode.
I can see sewell staying cuz he's going to be a Edmonton police officer when he retires and the only way Bowman would sign here if Jones trades Durrant for Ripley…anything is possible

Your loserville sliders already have overpaid players in getzlaf,Durant and dressler making up 18% of the salary cap on only 3 players not to mention over paying trader Jones while still paying Champlain and taman Murphy and O'day .Loserville is paying 5. Guys that any normal team pays only 2 .Get a life loserville 3-15.
