ESKIMOS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE GETZLAF SIGNING
Originally selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2007 CFL Draft, he was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he would play for eight seasons.
The two-time West All-Star (2012-13) has amassed 5,694 receiving yards on 368 receptions with 37 touchdowns.
A member of two Grey Cup champion teams, Getzlaf was on the practice roster for the 2007 Rider win and named the Most Valuable Canadian in the 2013 Grey Cup victory.
shoulda played hockey like $140,000,000 brother
It seems that the blue bombers plundered a 3 and 15 team in an effort to improve? The riders plundered the grey cup champs in an effort to improve. The eskies were plundered and need to find bodies. This is the first time in a long time the riders actually make sense.
Chris made some nice plays over the year but also dropped a lot of catchable passes…he is not a starter anymore. I do thank him for his years of service and his leadership. Best of luck in Edmonton.
Darcy from Regina
The Riders have lost or gotten rid of so many of last year's team, it doesn't even phase me any more. I used to get upset but now there is no reaction — good or bad. At this point if they told me they got rid of Darian, I don't think it would get a reaction from me.
He bled Green all over his Grey Cup. What more can u ask for? Thank you.
The 'Canadian Air Force' seems like a distant memory now…
I remember when Chris was the Stampeder killer, he literally killed them. It was fun to watch. but those days are gone. Why do so many athletes have a tough time admitting they are done? I feel sorry for him now.
Hey Roddy what's the time frame for your new app to come out ? Just curious…
Anon7,
If Chris Getzlaf literally killed the Calgary Stampeders, he should be locked up for life.
Good for Chris to literally sign a new deal. A lot of people figured he was done.
Hey at least he left with Grace , unlike former Rams coach Mike Gibson
Bowman drops more balls than a bad juggler and he has been in this league a long time. When the Riders try and put a highlight reel together of plays made by current Riders, oh wait maybe a Bagg catch or two and Darian run. Should be interesting watching Knox 100 plus tackles most of them downfield.
Good by Chris. Thanks for all the memories. I can't imagine what it felt like, a local kid playing and winning at home.
We'll see you in a couple years when you sign your one day contract, and retire a Rider.
Good luck, just not against us.
I remember the picture shot. It was second and ten. Chris had run a 12 yard out. Was standing right at the sideline in front of the Riders bench. Ball was right into his hands and he dropped it. The whole stadium boo'd.
Chances are Im pretty close. Simply by how many simple balls Chris dropped over his time as a Rider. He played better on the road. Mosaic seemed to be a bad place for Chris. Except Grey Cup 101.
