FOOTBALL FRIDAY: NFL NETWORK’S FRELUND, WESTWOOD & SMITTY

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled all the leagues on Episode #838 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV. Here’s the rundown!

  • RP and Moose Dupont got things rolling with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Bills rout the Rams 31-10 in the NFL kickoff game Thursday night, 2) CFL Friday Night Football has BC at Montreal with the Lions favoured by 3.5-p0ints at Bet Regal, 3) Saturday’s Banjo Bowl has Sask at Winnipeg. How will the Riders fare without Garrett Marino?, 4) The Blue Jays conclude their 10 game road trip with a weekend series at Texas while the Atlanta Braves are at Seattle, 5) Week 2 in Canada West features three games: Calgary at Regina, UBC at Saskatchewan and Manitoba at Alberta all on Friday night, and 6) Any hockey notes? Rod can’t wait for the Florida Panthers to open training camp.
  • We played Deal or No Deal NFL-style featuring all of Bet Regal’s betting lines for the NFL’s remaining Week 1 games. Any upsets?
  • NFL Network Data Science Expert Cynthia Frelund joined the show from Los Angeles and she said the numbers predicted a Bills victory at L.A., but not by this much! Regarding sneaky under-the-radar teams in 2022, Cynthia revealed the analytics suggest the Minnesota Vikings will surprise. Frelund answered plenty of viewer questions and promised to meet up with the RP Show at Super Bowl in Arizona.
  • RP Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith joined the show for the first two segments of Hour 2 and he covered all leagues going into a massive weekend: CFL, NFL, USports and NCAA. The panel did a deep dive on all the CFL’s Week 14 games. Smitty feels the Riders will be better off without Garrett Marino however he admitted it’s a sad story since the defensive lineman has showed a lot of promise.
  • 18-year Blue Bombers veteran kicker Troy Westwood joined the show to preview the Banjo Bowl and reflected on being the man who invented the name “Banjo Bowl”. Troy said it was one of his greatest career achievements and is proud the game lives on in infamy. Westwood predicted a 15-point Blue Bomber victory on Saturday.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which football league will you be following the most this weekend – CFL, NFL, Usports or NCAA? At press time the CFL was leading by a wide margin.
  • Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was J.T. O’Sullivan. Friday’s was Cynthia Frelund!
