FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN
Lucky us — there was tons of football discuss on Football Friday, whatwith Week 18 in the NFL kickoff, tons of CFL news and the CFP national championship kicking off Monday night with Washington versus Michigan in Houston.
From the CFL, it was learned QB Bo Levi Mitchell took a roughly 50% paycut to remain with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2024, the Roughriders released LB Derrick Moncrief (we learned Moncrief was granted his release early to get a headstart on talking with other teams) and the Edmonton Elks are releasing QB Taylor Cornelius ahead of a $100,000 roster bonus he’s due to earn. Later in the day it was reported the Elks are signing veteran QB Mclead Bethel-Thompson.
RP Show football analyst Jim Barker joined the show – presented by EMJ Marketing – and the 5-time Grey Cup champ discussed the CFL quarterback landscape ahead of free agency, explained why off-season bonuses are placed in CFL contracts (thank the agents), previewed the Bills & Dolphins in prime time Sunday night, and examined the Washington/Michigan clash.
15-year NFL veteran QB and Pro Bowler Gus Frerotte joined the show to tee up Week 18 and also promoted his AlumniMedia.com podcast network featuring NFL veterans. Frerotte also discussed the phenomenon that is ESPN & NCAA football analyst Pat McAfee.
We also played NFL Deal Or No Deal for Week 18 for our official betting partner Bet Regal.
If you missed the show you can catch the replay on Game+TV, on our YouTube Channel or wherever you enjoy your podcasts.
