FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN
We tackled the latest in every football league we could think of on Friday’s Episode #891 of The RP Show on Game+ TV, YouTube and WQEE Radio! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NFL Thanksgiving games saw the Cowboys, Vikings and Bills win, 2) The Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts are honoured at a rally at Maple Leafs Square, 3) Blue Bomber coach Mike O’Shea says he’s more concerned with exit interviews than a new contract at the moment, 4) NFL Week 12 games and Deal Or No Deal for Bet Regal, 5) Poll: Who should be the MVP of the NFL in 2022 – Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts or Tua Tagovailoa? Mahomes was leading at press time, and 6) Moose picks Saskatchewan to beat Laval in Saturday’s Vanier Cup, plus Week 13 College Football previews.
- The panel debated the Roughriders interviewing offensive coordinator candidates and gave their predictions on who will get the job. Rod also previewed Friday night’s Florida High School Football Metro Semifinal in Plantation, FL between Cardinal Gibbons and American Heritage. He will be in attendance cheering on the Chiefs and head coach Matt Dubuc.
- NFL/CFL veteran and NFL Network alum Will Blackmon was scheduled to appear in Hour 1 however an NCAA TV production meeting ran long and he was unable to join.
- Hour 2 included a lengthy back-and-forth with viewers on the current NFL & CFL news.
- Sauga 960 radio host Mike Richards joined the show and discussed Canada’s World Cup opener outdrawing the Grey Cup for viewership in Canada. Richards feels that doesn’t cast the CFL in poor light, given the fact Canada hasn’t been in the tournament since 1986 and there was massive build-up. Rod wondered aloud if the CFL is fighting a losing battle, similar to Major League Baseball being surpassed in the USA by the NFL and College Football for popularity and ratings.
- Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for Roxdar Supply Chain Solutions was soccer analyst James Sharman. Friday’s was Mike Richards!
