FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN

Fridays are reserved for football on the RP Show and we welcomed a bevy of our gridiron friends to Episode #966 of The RP Show – Daytime Sportstalk – live from Grey Eagle Casino on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio! Here’s the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Thursday NHL leftovers including the Flames 3-2 loss to Vegas and the Jets 3-2 win at Anaheim, 2) Does the C.J. Stroud/Bryce Young debate compare to Manning/Leaf from the 90s?, 3) CFL Combine coverage and XFL Week 6, 4) In spring training the Jays blanked the Twins 3-0 and the Braves tied the Mets 2-2, 5) On Friday night in the NBA, the Raptors host the Pistons, and 6) Randoms including NLL Week 16, Dub Hub and Sweet 16.
• 3-time Grey Cup champion and former Dallas Cowboys longsnapper Randy Chevrier joined us at Grey Eagle for several football stories and analysis. The Montreal product reflected on his CFL Combine showing, being drafted into both the NFL and CFL in 2001, the nuances of the art of longsnapping, and recalled his Welcome To The NFL moment with the Cowboys.
• In Hour 2, 3DownNation CFL Insider Justin Dunk joined the show live from the CFL Combine and recapped the first two days, previewed the weekend, discussed the renewed Maritime expansion effort and explained the injury to star Roughriders receiver Kian Schaeffer-Baker which will keep him on the shelf for the start of the CFL season.
• Next up we were joined by Edmonton Elks DB coach Brandon Isaac live from the Combine. “B.I.” explained what the coaches are looking for, discussed the Elks rebuild, and explained his road into coaching after a long CFL playing career which included winning the 2012 Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will go #1 overall in the NFL Draft – C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young? At press time the results were 50/50.
• Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day was 3-time World Muay Thai champion Kieran Keddle. Friday’s was Randy Chevrier!
