FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: HOPSON, SMITH AND MORE!
Fridays are always reserved for football on The RP Show and we tackled all the latest topics with some our best gridiron buds on Episode #946 of your favourite daytime sports talkshow on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Thursday NHL leftovers including the Flames’ 4-3 OT loss at Vegas and the Oilers blowout win at Pittsburgh, 2) Who’s your secondary NHL team if yours misses the playoffs?, 3) A tiebreaker day at the Scotties in Kamloops, 3) The Raptors top the Pelicans 115-110, 5) QB Dane Evans is traded from Hamilton to BC, 6A) Week 2 in the XFL opened with St. Louis downing Seattle 20-18, and 6B) This weekend’s NLL action.
- RP Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith joined the bunker for a wide-ranging chat. The two-time Grey Cup champ explained that he’s far more into the Scotties than the XFL, but would be following the league closer if he was still working in personnel. The guys examined the CFL landscape after free agency, discussed coaching moves in the NFL, and much more.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who won CFL Free Agency – Hamilton, Sask, Winnipeg or Other? At press time, the Ticats were leading.
- Hall of Fame former Rider President Jim Hopson joined the bunker in Hour 2 for an hour-long visit. He explained his ongoing cancer battle but said he’s living life to the fullest with several trips to Mexico. Hopson’s backed off on his stance that CFL tickets are too expensive, saying other leagues are getting away with it. Regarding former Rider GM & Head Coach Chris Jones and how he’d have handled him if he was still President, Hopson quipped that he probably wouldn’t have hired him in the first place! The interview included many questions and comments from viewers.
- Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day was CTV’s Darrell Romuld. Friday’s was Jim Hopson!
- If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+ TV, on our YouTube Channel or wherever you enjoy your podcasts.
- See you at 12 pm ET on Monday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE Radio!
