FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: MCNEIL, SMITH, HOGAN & MORE!

Fridays are for the gridiron on The RP Show and we tackled just about EVERY league on Episode #848 of your favourite daytime sports talk show on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Browns down the Steelers 29-17 on Thursday Night Football in a game that was closer than the score!, 2) Friday Night CFL Football pits Hamilton at Montreal with the Alouettes favoured by 1-point. Is this the Game of the Week?, 3) Former Rider Kenton Keith alleges racism in Sask and says the team won’t let him retire as a Rider. Rod gave his thoughts, 4) Week 4 in Canada West has Sask (3-0) at Alberta (2-1), Regina (2-1) at UBC (1-2), and Calgary (0-3) at Manitoba (1-2). We’re also keeping an eye on these CFB games: Maryland at Michigan (-17), Vanderbilt at Alabama (-41) and Florida Atlantic at Purdue (-16.5), 5) The Blue Jays get spanked 10-5 at Tampa Bay, and 6) The NHL preseason opens on Saturday with four games.

  • In Segment 2 Rod and Moose played NFL Deal or No Deal for Bet Regal, previewing Week 3 betting lines from The RP Show official sports book. The featured game is Buffalo (-5.5) at Miami on Sunday at 1 pm ET, and Rod will be in attendance at Hard Rock Stadium.
  • 14-year CFL’er and 6-time All Star Jay McNeil joined the show to discuss being named the VP of Business Operations for the Calgary Stampeders on Wednesday. The Stamps great discussed his new role, how it came about, and reflected on his great career saying he truly saw all the ups and downs of the Calgary franchise. McNeil discussed the challenges which lay ahead for the CFL post-Covid.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will Tom Brady finish the NFL season given his off-field problems? At press time 70% of respondents said yes.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by RP Show Director of Scouting Craig Smith and again we covered all the big CFL, NFL, NCAA and USports games this weekend. Craig also got into several CFL topics including Craig Dickenson saying his Riders are “not very good”. (Smitty thinks the comments should’ve been kept in-house). He also answered several viewer questions including why the Elks can’t win at home and whom are the legitimate Grey Cup favourites down the home stretch.
  • Toronto Argonauts play-by-play man Mike Hogan joined the show to preview Saturday’s Argos/RedBlacks game in Ottawa and said it’s the Game of the Week because of its importance to both clubs. Hogie can’t figure out why Ottawa is 0-6 at home this season, and discussed what the Toronto team is doing right this year. He also told many Ricky Ray stories whatwith Ricky going into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame last week.

  • Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Arash Madani. Friday’s was Craig Smith!
