FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: NFL, BOWL GAMES & BARKER ON CFL BUZZ
Fridays remain reserved for the gridiron and we tackled just about every league on Friday’s Episode #1143 of Canada’s favourite daytime sports talk show. We also aired a tribute to RP Show original and Hall of Fame Rider broadcaster John Lynch, as beautifully produced by Darren Dupont.
RP Show football analyst Jim Barker joined the show for his weekly spot presented by EMJ Marketing. Barker reacted to the L.A. Chargers firing head coach Brandon Staley and GM Tom Telesco Friday morning, 12 hours after losing 63-21 in Vegas on Thursday Night Football. “They coulda done it at halftime,” Barker huffed.
Jim also discussed Canadian QB Kurtis Rourke transferring from Ohio to Indiana for his senior year, and reporting CFL coaching rumours. Barker’s heard the Toronto Argonauts will promote internally to replace Corey Mace as Defensive Coordinator, and that former Saskatchewan Defensive Coordinator Jason Shivers is headed to Edmonton in the same role. Regarding Thursday’s CFL schedule release, Barker said it’s the best TV schedule the league has had in years with Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday night games all summer.
We also teed up the 43 U.S. College Bowl games which begin on Saturday, and played NFL Deal Or No Deal for Week 15 presented by our official betting partner Bet Regal. SaskSelects coach Zeljko Stefanovic joined the show to promote next month’s Battle of the Prairies football showcase in Moose Jaw which will feature teams from across Canada and the US.
If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 5 pm ET on Game+TV or on our YouTube Channel.
Have a great weekend and we’ll see you Monday!
It was totally logical for Shivers to wind up with HC Chris Jones.
Jason Shivers joining Mr. Chris Jones In Edmonton with the Elks is another story ala Jason Maas going to the Montreal Alouettes and winning the Grey Cup in his very first season. Jason Shivers and Mr. Everything Chris Jones will win a Grey Cup guaranteed in quick order. As for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, they’ve regressed to the CFL West Division basement and will stay there for the foreseeable future under their current inept management team of Jeremy O’Day, Craig Reynolds and the useless board of directors.
