FORMER RIDER FREEMAN CASHES IN WITH BEARS
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) – The Chicago Bears have added another inside linebacker to their defence, agreeing to a three-year contract with Jerrell Freeman.
The deal with the former Indianapolis Colts and Saskatchewan Roughriders (2009-2011) player Saturday comes three days after the signing of Danny Trevathan. The moves address one of the Bears’ biggest needs and gives them two new starters.
The 29-year-old Freeman started all 57 games he played in the past four seasons with Indianapolis after spending three years with the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Since entering the NFL in 2012 he is tied for sixth in tackles. He led the Colts in defensive tackles in 2012 and 2013 and ranked second in 2014 and 2015.
Freeman is known for his athleticism and the Bears will be counting on that as they try to become a contender after finishing last in the NFC North at 6-10. They showed some progress in their first season under coach John Fox and general manager Ryan Pace but missed the playoffs for the eighth time in nine years.
One of the biggest areas of concern this off-season was at inside linebacker after former first-round pick Shea McClellin and Christian Jones struggled. Jonathan Anderson and John Timu got more playing time as the season wore on, but they made no impact.
True factoid,
If Darian Durant should sustain another injury, he's on a one way bus ticket out of Saskatchewan asap !
While this comment has absolutely nothing to do with the story it is posted under, at least it's not political lol
well deserved, this guy has proven himself over and over again.
As a long time Bears fan I am excited to have Jerrell on board. Welcome Mr Freeman. An all time favorite Rider.

Go Bears!
Good for Jerrell. It goes to show other US players that it is good experience to play in the CFL
Wall driving to Swift Current in that commercial, no way. He thinks people are that stupid and gullible. Just a few scenes of him behind the wheel driving spliced into the final production product. He's more than likely to be on the plaine in the overhead shot following the stooge driving along the highway for a few km's until they got enough video for that commercial. Wall drive almost every other day to Swift Current? meh… him and his ads, sic.
Hey this is about Freeman, normal everyday positive news with a Saskatchewan link…..so take your negative crap and package it into your one skinny little vote next month…till then you can go back to the pile ! haha
Too bad he couldn't have gotten signed by a decent team though… Bears are awful!
