FORMER RIDER SUNSERI JOINS TENNESSEE STAFF
Tino Sunseri, a former quality control assistant at Florida State who’s the son of former Tennessee defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri, announced Saturday night on his Twitter account that he’s joining new Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt’s staff.
“@CoachTSunseri
Just first and foremost want to thank Coach Fisher for giving me a opportunity at Florida state. The relationships I have built there will be ever lasting. But I am proud to announce I’ll be joining Coach Pruitt’s Staff at Tennessee! Let’s get to work!”
On his Twitter profile, the younger Sunseri lists himself as an offensive quality control assistant who will work with Tennessee’s quarterbacks. He served in the same role for the past two years on former Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher’s staff but didn’t follow Fisher to Texas A&M.

Sunseri, 29, played quarterback at Pittsburgh and spent several years with the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders before joining the Seminoles’ staff in 2016.
Pruitt already has hired former USC assistant coach Tyson Helton as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator. Helton served as the Trojans’ quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator for the past two years.
Sunseri’s father served as the Vols’ defensive coordinator under former coach Derek Dooley in 2012 and recently joined new Florida coach Dan Mullen’s staff.
Sal Sunseri also was an assistant coach at Alabama in 2009-11 alongside Pruitt, who served as the Crimson Tide’s director of player development in 2009 before being promoted to defensive backs coach in 2010-12.
