FORMER RIDERS TAKEN IN XFL DRAFT
The upstart XFL is holding its 2-day Draft this week.
The Draft is being conducted in five phases and is divvying up a talent pool 0f 1,000 players. On Tuesday, skill positions, linemen and linebackers were selected. On Wednesday, the focus will shift to defensive backs. Eight priority QBs were spoken for before the Draft even began.
Among the former Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted were QB Marquise Williams (10th round, NY Guardians), DL Davis Tull (4th Round, Houston Roughnecks), WR K.D. Cannon (6th round, Los Angeles Wildcats).
Other former CFL’ers selected on Day 1 included former Hamilton Tiger-Cats WR Jalen Saunders and Calgary Stampeders DL James Vaughters.
Drafting on Day 2 commences at 10 am.
The Tampa Bay Vipers are coached by former Argos/Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman and his offensive coordinator is CFL veteran Jaime Elizondo. Houston’s head coach is former Ticats and NFL coach June Jones.
The league begins play in February of 2020 and games will be televised on ABC, ESPN, Fox and Fox Sports 1.
