FRIDAY COMMENTARY – A TRIPLEHEADER OF A LIFETIME

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)

Friday, October 7 will be remembered as one of the greatest sports days in our lifetime!
Okay … maybe it’s not JFK being shot or “Elvis Dying” material, but Sask sports fans haven’t had this exciting of a day for a very long time.

It gets going at 2:07 pm Mountain Time as the Blue Jays host the Seattle Mariners in Game 1 of their Best of 3 MLB Wild Card Series at Rogers Centre.

Jays hotshot Alek Manoah makes his first career playoff start against the Mariners’ Luis Castillo, who hasn’t started a playoff game since 2001!

It won’t entirely come down to the pitching match-up but these are the playoffs and that’s the biggest factor so I’d give the Jays the edge there.

Next up at 5 pm it’s the Roughriders at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in pretty much a “Win And You’re In” game.

We’ve talked about it all week. As a matter of fact there comes a time in sports where there’s nothing more to be said. It’s time to just go out and play and leave it all out on the field.

For the Riders that day has arrived and tonight in Hamilton, we’re going to find out what this year’s Rider team is made of.

And then at 7 pm, the Regina Pats square off at home against the Winnipeg ICE.

There’s not a team I follow more closely than the Regina Pats and they won’t get a better measuring stick than tonight’s clash with the top-ranked team in all of junior hockey – James Patrick’s ICE.

I’ve got plenty of thoughts on where the Pats are – and where they’re going – but I’ll save that for after tonight’s game, and put them in my weekend column.

We’re all waiting to see what goes down in today’s games.

A very big day, indeed.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

Indeed Roddy it’s a huge sporting day/night.
My predictions;
Jays take game one 6-2

Riders will fall 33-17

Ice will be so hot against the Pats the “ice” will melt. I actually hope Pats win but talent always prevails.
Score 6-3

I’m going to see Bedard in MJ Oct 20 … finally will get to see this kid live.

Have a good long thanksgiving wk end Roddy.
