A coupla three or more thoughts heading into the weekend …

#1 – No rest for the wicked! The Moose Jaw Warriors arrived in Portland Thursday and will open the Western Hockey League Final tonight against the Winterhawks.

The Tribe just finished off the Blades in the Eastern Final’s Game 7 on Tuesday.

It’s a 2-3-2 format in the series, which no matter who wins it, will put a lot of money in the Warriors coffers.

But hey – they’ve come this far. They might as well win it!

#2 – The series will be shown on TSN, and on NHL Network here in the States. I’m excited to see both facilities on TV!

As a kid, I used to lay in bed and listen to those late Pats games with Kevin Gallant live from the Portland “Glass Palace” and dream of one day being there.

Once I was, it was better than I’d imagined.

So exciting!

#3 – What an absolute, bloody mess this whole Chad Kelly thing is for the CFL. The exiled quarterback was present at Argos training camp Thursday despite him being suspended from games until Labour Day.

There has to be a reason that good people like Pinball Clemons and Ryan Dinwiddie are putting their neck on the line for this guy.

But till now I haven’t found out what it is.

And #4 – If you like physical, rough-and-tumble hockey, you might wanna tune into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Yesterday we mentioned here the wild Game 2 of the Florida-Boston series and then last night it got a little kooky in the Rangers-Hurricanes affair. No blood gets spilled anymore, but comparatively speaking this is as good as it gets.

Because it’s the Cup.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

With regards to the Argos situation. Former Toronto Mayor the great Rob Ford who was an Argos diehard if there ever was one. He would have been the Argo version of me as a Roughrider fan. That poor man is spinning in his grave with what’s happening. Hardening back to a simpler time – the mid 20-teens. He chastised Toronto city council wearing an addidas track suit. On his worst day he showed up the next day to work in his Argos jersey. Anyway the Argos are special. If Pinball and Ryan are sticking their necks out. It’s called loyalty… Read more »
