FRIDAY COMMENTARY – BEAT THE SPREAD
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)
Taking you into the weekend with a coupla three or more thoughts …
#1 – Connor Bedard did not disappoint in his Chicago Blackhawks preseason debut. #98 set up both Chicago goals in a 2-1 overtime victory over St. Louis and was named the game’s #2 star.
He centred the Blackhawks #1 line just like we told you he would, and can start looking for a house.
Now … where’s the best place to buy some Blackhawks gear?
#2 – I see a lot of grumbling online about the Regina Pats, their woeful attendance (sub 2,000 per game they say), and inflated ticket prices.
If you’re gonna cry, don’t come cryin’ to me. My suggestion is to grab that #98 Bedard jersey you bought last year and rub it till you feel better.
We told you many times these days were coming.
#3 – The Riders are at B.C. tonight and while the Lions are favoured by a whopping 10-points by Bet Regal at B.C. Place, I expect a far better game than that.
At least, I hope it is. I’m far, far removed from the Rider scene so it’s tough to tell what the vibe around the team is however since they’re still in a playoff spot and actually in control of their own destiny, I expect them to put up a helluva fight.
I think they’ll at least beat the spread.
And #4 – Allow me a minute to gush. After a couple of seasons to get the lay of the land for NHL hockey here in Florida, we started a podcast this month called, “Cats ‘N Bolts”. It covers the Panthers and Lightning and features franchise greats from each team.
On Thursday I got a note from Fox Sports saying they love the show but were wary at first, wondering if the concept of a show featuring two rival teams would work. I guess there will always be doubters. But it never gets old proving them wrong.
Starting over has been a mammoth undertaking, but holy smokes is it worth it.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary
(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 5 pm ET on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)
Pt . 2 – blame Paddock for this. Not trading Bedard last year was criminal. The Pats could have been set up for years.. instead we got an early playoff exit.
