FRIDAY COMMENTARY – DIG FOR THE GOOD NEWS
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)
IT’S FRIDAY, AND WE PRESENT A MIXED BAG OF THOUGHTS TAKING US INTO THE WEEKEND …
SASKTEL CENTRE IN SASKATOON IS THE PLACE TO BE TONIGHT WHERE THE SASKATCHEWAN RUSH LOOK FOR THEIR FIRST HOME WIN OF THE SEASON WHEN THEY WELCOME THE WEST CONFERENCE-LEADING SAN DIEGO SEALS.
THERE’S NOTHING LIKE A RUSH HOME GAME. IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN, IT’S TIME TO CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. VISIT TICKETMASTER TO SELECT YOUR SEATS.
NUMBER 2 – THERE ARE SIX NFL PLAYOFF GAMES THIS WEEKEND SPACED OUT NICELY OVER THREE DAYS. THE ODDSMAKERS SAY THE CLOSEST GAME WILL BE SUNDAY’S CLASH BETWEEN THE COWBOYS AND 49ERS IN DALLAS. DALLAS IS FAVOURED BY THREE.
THERE’S ALWAYS AT LEAST ONE UPSET ON THIS WEEKEND, AND I’M HOPING IT’S NOT MY COWBOYS. IF I CAN PICK A ROAD UNDERDOG, IT’S THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS TO WIN AT BUFFALO. BUT WE’LL WATCH EM ALL.
AND LASTLY, I APPLAUD EACH AND EVERY TEAM, LEAGUE AND FEDERATION WHO’S PUSHING THROUGH COVID AND DOING THEIR BEST TO PUT GAMES ON.
IT’S A REALLY TOUGH TIME, BUT I’VE ALWAYS FAVOURED THE ADAGE “THE SHOW MUST GO ON”.
LIKE THE OLYMPICS, WHICH ARE A GO IN BEIJING. ON THURSDAY CANADA ANNOUNCED RACHEL HOMAN AND JOHN MORRIS WILL REPRESENT US IN MIXED DOUBLES CURLING.
IT’S ONE OF MY FAVOURITE OLYMPIC SPORTS AND I WONDER WHY WE ONLY HAVE IT ONCE EVERY FOUR YEARS?
I’D WATCH MORE CURLING IF WE HAD MORE OF THIS EXCITING FORMAT.
THE GOOD NEWS IS OUT THERE. SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO LOOK REAL HARD TO FIND IT.
