A coupla three or more thoughts entering Thanksgiving weekend …

#1 – It ranks as a huge upset. The New York Giants improved to 2-4 on Thursday Night Football, shocking the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles 34-17 at MetLife Stadium, handing Philly its second straight loss.

We’re now into Week 6 of the NFL season and this season should be presented by Tums, or Six Flags. There have been plenty of upsets, and even more ups and downs.

#2 – Week 19 in the CFL kicks off Friday night at Mosaic Stadium in Regina as the already-eliminated Toronto Argonauts take on the CFL-best Saskatchewan Roughriders.

No, there’s not a lot of intrigue in this one but the Riders need a win to clinch first in the West and they’ve got plenty of kinks in their game to work out before playoffs.

Interesting – tailback A.J. Ouellette has more carries (222) than any Roughrider since Kory Sheets in 2013. Proof that sticking with a player – whether it be due to injuries or confidence – pays off.

Let’s see if that’s the case with struggling kicker Brett Lauther, who’s back on the roster this week.

#3 – Speaking of upsets, we are three nights into the NHL season and there have been many. None bigger than opening night in Edmonton on Wednesday when the Oilers blew a 3-0 lead and lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Flames.

My picks are a mess but I’m picking based on last year’s teams, forgetting that this is a brand new season, and teams are different!

The hockey’s been great.

And #4 – We’ll find out tonight the Blue Jays opponent in the ALCS which begins Sunday. The Tigers visit the Mariners in Game 5 of their Best of 5 ALDS. Who do we want to win?

Doesn’t matter.
