FRIDAY COMMENTARY – I LIKE IT, I LOVE IT

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)

AS YOU KNOW ON FRIDAYS, I LIKE TO INCLUDE A COUPLE THOUGHTS TO SEND YOU INTO THE WEEKEND. SO HERE GOES:

THE EDMONTON OILERS REVOLVING DOOR FOR COACHES GOT ANOTHER SPIN ON THURSDAY WITH THE FIRING OF DAVE TIPPETT. IT’S ALWAYS SO SAD WHEN THESE THINGS GO DOWN BECAUSE HE WAS THERE OUT OF A FRIENDSHIP AND TRUST WITH OILERS GM KEN HOLLAND AND THE CHANCE TO COACH CONNOR MCDAVID IN A SPECIAL MARKET.

NOW THAT’S GONE UP IN SMOKE AND EDMONTON’S STARTING OVER WITH SOMEBODY NAMED JAY WOODCROFT. (DID I GET THAT RIGHT?)

IT’S FULL-ON PANIC MODE IN EDMONTON, GIVEN THE FACT HOLLAND SAID LESS THAN A MONTH AGO HE WASN’T GOING TO FIRE ANYBODY.

NOW THE OILERS ARE LEFT WITH EVANDER KANE, AND NO DAVE TIPPETT.

HOW DO YOU THINK THAT’S GOING TO TURN OUT?

BUT THAT SEEMS LIKE A WORLD AWAY FROM WHERE WE ARE NOW. IT’S FRIDAY OF SUPER BOWL WEEK AND LAST NIGHT I ATTENDED MY FIRST-EVER SUPER BOWL PARTY.

YOU CAN CHECK OUT MY SOCIAL MEDIA FEEDS TO SEE HOW IT WENT, BUT I SPENT A GOOD DEAL OF TIME WITH THE LIKES OF CRIS CARTER, RG III, RON JAWORSKI, SOLOMON WILCOTS AND WAYYYYYYYY MORE.

THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT THE NFL AND I NOTICED IT A COUPLE YEARS AGO WHEN WE MOVED INTO IT WITH THE RP SHOW: THE PEOPLE IN AND AROUND THE LEAGUE ARE EXTREMELY NICE.

IT’S LIKE THEY TAKE THEIR INVOLVEMENT AS A BADGE OF HONOUR AND WANT TO DO THEIR PART TO REPRESENT THE SHIELD WITH DIGNITY AND CLASS.

I LIKE IT. AND I WANT MORE OF IT.

ENJOY SUPER WEEKEND AND AGAIN, RAMS BY DOUGLE DIGITS.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY.

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV Network across Canada and the USA. Call your cable provider for details. You can also watch on YouTube Live or listen 24/7 at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive)

I have to go with the Bengals as I’m basically back in the 1988 to 1998 mode which is when civilization made sense. It actually makes sense now to not make sense. I actually came about in an era where Cincinnati was a real deal team. Somehow though after Grade 8/9 Cincinnati fell off and it was Buffalo who took over that AFC. Ron Jaworski? Jaws is very happy that Dick Vermeil made the HOF. When people talk about win/loss records – this guy took over 3 teams that were abysmal. Absolute train wreck franchises. I missed his Philly days,… Read more »
