Friday Commentary: Into The Wind
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend ..
#1 – It’s our last *weekday* here in Nashville before heading home on the weekend. I haven’t spent as much time visiting with the locals as usual for two reasons. We’ve had our own busy schedule, plus it’s minus-12 Celsius here today so no one’s hanging around chatting!
But it has been amaaaaaaaazing.
#2 – I will say Music City has a deep knowledge of the CFL. The last time I was here, I was adorned in Rider gear everyday and people would randomly stop and offer a comment. “Corey Chamblin! He went to Tennessee Tech!” said one guy. “Kent Austin! He went to high school in Brentwood (a Nashville suburb)!” said another.
I’m not wearing Rider gear anymore, but we’re proud of our CFL ties. In fact new BC Lions coach Buck Pierce will be on the RP Show live from Nashville today, along with Jim Barker. New Edmonton Elks coach Mark Kilam was on with us Tuesday.
Absolutely love it.
#3 – I can assure you that, even if we were out visiting with the locals, there wouldn’t be much talk about Wednesday’s announcement of the Four Nations Faceoff rosters on Broadway.
Honestly it’s a little sad to see that people can’t keep their comments civil. The players will decide it on the ice come February anyway so the debate over who made it or didn’t, or who has the best team, is just Fake News.
But asking people to remain civil is about as useful as peeing into the wind, as my mom would say.
It won’t go anywhere and it’ll probably just come back on ya.
And #4 – Speaking of, I’m not even going to go near the Riders signing 38-year old quarterback Trevor Harris on Thursday. Not surprisingly, I’m all for it.
He was there for the team when it mattered last season and above all, he’s an outstanding person. Although, I know that’s never mattered to Rider fans.
They say he’s too old, period.
So we’ll just leave it at that.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 4 pm ET on Game+TV, Podcast & YouTube Live)
Trevor Harris is a nice guy, but he’s way past his prime. We had opportunities to get VA, Fajardo etc. This team doesn’t care about winning.
That’s true but you actually think Fajardo would go back??
Fair point… He probably wouldn’t after the way he was treated last time.
Trevor Harris was the obvious and smartest choice.
