A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend …

#1 – I knew the day was coming but that doesn’t make it any easier. Patrick Kane surpassed Mike Modano as the all-time leading scorer among U.S.-born skaters in the NHL last night in Detroit’s 4-3 loss to Washington. 1,375 points.

Modano’s my favourite hockey player ever, period. I didn’t care what his passport said, and that goes back to his junior days in P.A.

An RP Show viewer this week said he’s not the greatest Raider ever; that honour belongs to Leon Draisaitl.

I disagree, but that’s what makes the debate fun.

#2 – Oh man did we have laughs on the show this week when discussing the movement to get a pro women’s hockey team in Halifax, and the fact that Canadian songstress Anne Murray is aiding the effort. She even attended a neutral site game there this season.

I was aghast! Anne Murray’s never helped get a CFL team to the Maritimes, and has never even been a halftime act for Grey Cup.

What’s Anne Murray got against the CFL?? CANCEL HER!

aM I dOiNg iT rIgHt?

#3 – It was a fast week. The Belichick-Hall of Fame snub story snatched all the headlines but the more I think about it, he’s getting what he deserves. Karma’s a b*tch! However the fallout has been endlessly entertaining.

Meanwhile we’re still 10 days away from Super Bowl 60 in San Francisco and the teams – the Patriots and Seahawks – will arrive early next week.

Enjoy the calm before the storm, because it’s going to be a tidal wave of coverage all week from Santa Clara and the storylines are rife.

They’re saying it’s a weak match-up but there’s one thing I can guarantee right now …

We’ll all be watching.

1) Leon Draisaitl is not in the conversation of all-time great PA Raiders. If I’m truly honest; I hardly remember him playing for P.A and the amount of times I’ve seen P.A he was just another guy coming through. Mike Modano is the gold standard. After that Chris Phillips was what a 1st Overall pick looked like. He was that noticeable. 2) This is not in the category of H8ters gonna H8t, but still I have to weigh in. When 1998 came along Women’s Hockey was sort of a “hey good for the girls” deal. It was never meant to… Read more »

Bill Belichick getting snubbed for a first ballot HOF induction may seem petty and disrespectful, but I think it’s a tribute by the HOF voters to the man’s nature. Maybe he gets rejected again next year and goes in in 28…on his 3rd try.
