Friday Commentary: Let The Games Begin
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend…
#1 – OMG what a night in sports Thursday was! Where to start? In Atlanta, Kirk Cousins threw for a mind-boggling 509 yards and the hometown Falcons upset Baker Mayfield and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36-30 in overtime.
They’ll be talking about this one for days! (Well, at least till Sunday).
Then on the other channel, the New York Mets staged an improbable ninth inning rally to knock off the Brewers 4-2 in Milwaukee and take that Wild Card series in three.
That ninth inning took forever, and now I know why. Brewers skipper Pat Murphy couldn’t figure out a way around Mets slugger Pete Alonso, who won the game with a 3-run homer.
Wild!
#2 – There may be no less drama in this weekend’s CFL game. Every one of them has playoff ramifications but to be honest, I loathe this time of year for this reason:
You need to be a Calculus professor to figure out all the permutations of who needs to beat who, and by how much, and how it affects the playoffs scenario.
I’d advise to just sit back and enjoy the games and let the standings sort themselves out.
Friday evenings belong to the CFL and tonight we’ve got a doubleheader. (Winnipeg at Hamilton, Calgary at BC).
#3 – Somewhere I’ve gotta fit in the Vince McMahon documentary on Netflix, and I’d love to know your thoughts if you’ve watched it.
They might as well of named the series “F ‘em!” because that was McMahon’s attitude while building the WWE into the world’s #1 sports entity.
Astounding. But I’m not sure I’d have wanted to work for him.
And #4 – At long last the NHL regular season begins today with the Buffalo Sabres meeting the New Jersey Devils at 1 pm in Prague.
Let the games begin.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
