A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend …

#1 – We generally say Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is always the best round but may I submit that Round 2 this year is beating the brakes off everyone??

The drama is off the charts. Like, we all thought Winnipeg would beat Dallas last night but did anyone have Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck posting a 22-save shutout on their bingo card? What a story.

And then there’s Game 6 tonight here in Sunrise where the Leafs face elimination against the Florida Panthers.

I get such a bang out of the pundits performing the autopsy on the Leafs while the cadaver is still twitching.

The way things have gone, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Leafs win tonight and force a Game 7.

#2 – Gotta say though, that I’m having the time of my life. The raging feud between Leaf-lover Paul Bissonnette (NHL On TNT & Spittin Chiclets) and #1 Panthers fan Cesar Lucero spilled over into the mainstream media last night when Biz told the panel he’s got something special planned for Big Ceaz tonight at Amerant Bank Arena.

I’m friends with them both and Biz told me what he’s got in store. This is the perfect example of where we can have our rivalries, but still keep it friendly. Don’t forget, sports should be fun!

#3 – We’ve been ahead on this one for some time but people are now starting to catch up. The NFL Players Association voted in favor of allowing their players to participate in the 2008 L.A. Olympics in Flag Football and now all we’re waiting for is the owners to approve it. And then, will the CFL follow suit?

Somebody said the NFL envisions their own bigtime Flag Football League somewhere down the line but to be honest, I can’t see that far ahead.

One day at a time still works very well for me. But I think that would be extremely exciting.

And #4 – It wasn’t the start the Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League were looking for. They got speedbagged 105-65 by the Vancouver Bandits last night in their home-opener at SaskTel Centre. It’s a CEBL record for the largest margin of victory in league history.

Oh well! I’m sure there were lots of “teachable moments”.
