FRIDAY COMMENTARY – THE GOOD, THE GREAT & THE UGLY
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)
IT’S A FRIDAY EDITION OF THE GOOD, THE GREAT & THE UGLY.
FIRST, THE GOOD: EVEN CASUAL FANS WILL BE TUNED INTO THE MASTERS THIS WEEKEND THANKS TO TIGER WOODS MAKING THE CUT ON THURSDAY, SHOOTING ONE UNDER PAR. HE ENTERS FRIDAY TIED FOR 10TH.
THEY’RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS IS IN CANADA, SO JUST IMAGINE HOW BONKERS THEY’RE GOING IN AMERICA.
IT’S TRUE; EVERYONE LOVES A COMEBACK. AND THIS COULD BE ONE OF THE GREATEST.
NEXT, THE GREAT: AND IT TRULY IS GREAT. MOOSE JAW’S HERITAGE CENTRE WAS PACKED LAST WEEKEND FOR THE COUNTRY’S FIRST BIG NAME SPORTS BANQUET, HOSTED BY THE MOOSE JAW KINSMEN.
ON SATURDAY, IT’S ASSINIBOIA’S TURN AS I’LL BE ON HAND AT THE PRINCE OF WALES CENTRE ALONG WITH LANNY MCDONALD AND CHRIS WALBY RAISING FUNDS FOR ASSINIBOIA’S NEW COMMUNITY. YOU CAN STILL GET TICKETS AT NELSON MOTORS.
NEXT MONTH I’LL BE AT ESTEVAN ALONG WITH CRAIG BUTTON FOR THE BRUINS SPORTSMANS DINNER AND THE CENTENNIAL CUP.
IT’S CLEAR THAT WE ARE VERY MUCH BACK ON THE BANQUET CIRCUIT, AND TO ME THAT’S GREAT.
AND LASTLY, THE UGLY: SORRY JETS FANS, BUT IT’S WINNIPEG’S NHL TEAM.
AT THE MOST CRITICAL TIME OF THE SEASON, THE JETS HAVE LOST THREE IN A ROW AND THEY’RE NOT GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. THEY STILL HAVE A MATHEMATICAL CHANCE BUT AS SOON AS THE TERM “MAGIC NUMBER” COMES OUT, AND YOU’RE NOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF IT, THE PORTLY LADY IS TUNING UP.
THEY’VE ALREADY CHANGED COACHES ON PORTAGE AVENUE, AND IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE.
NEXT IN THE CROSSHAIRS IS GM KEVIN CHEVELDAYOFF WHOM WE’RE A BIG FAN OF. BUT CLEARLY THE WINDOW’S CLOSED. OWNERSHIP NEEDS TO DECIDE IF THEY’RE GONNA KEEP PUSHING A BALL UPHILL, OR START THE PAINFUL REBUILD NOW.
I WONDER IF THE OWNERSHIP ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT TO DO.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY.

If Winnipeg is serious about rebuilding and contending.
To my knowledge (which is considerable) there is on guy with 3 Stanley Cup rings looking for his next GM job.
Yet Stan Bowman will most likely wind up in San Jose.
As someome who is progressive. I will personally drive Haley Wickenheiser to job interviews if it means she can move on from Toronto.
