FRIDAY COMMENTARY – THE PREDICTION

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)

WELL IT’S ALMOST TIME.

THE ROUGHRIDERS WILL BE HEADING TO WINNIPEG SOON, AND BEGIN FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR SUNDAY’S CFL WEST FINAL AGAINST THE VAUNTED BLUE BOMBERS.

WHAT A FUN WEEK IT’S BEEN, WATCHING THE BACK AND FORTH! THIS TRULY IS A DAVID AND GOLIATH MATCH-UP, WITH WINNIPEG FINISHING THE SEASON AT 11-3, AND THE RIDERS AT 9-5.

THOSE ARE BOTH GREAT RECORDS, BUT DON’T FORGET WINNIPEG PULVERIZED SASK IN BACK-TO-BACK WEEKS IN THE LABOUR DAY CLASSIC AND BANJO BOWL.

THE STATS ARE HEAVILY SLANTED TOWARDS THE BOMBERS IN EVERY REGARD, AND IT’S BROUGHT UP MANY COMPARISONS TO THE 1989 WEST FINAL WHEN THE 9-9 ROUGHRIDERS WENT INTO EDMONTON AND UPSET THE 16-2 ESKIMOS ON THE WAY TO A GREY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP.

ON THAT DAY, THE RIDERS BLITZED TRACY HAM’S ESKIMOS 35-PLUS TIMES AND EDMONTON NEVER DID ADJUST. IF THE RIDERS ARE TO BEAT WINNIPEG ON SUNDAY, IT’S GOING TO COME DOWN TO SCHEME AND THAT’S WHAT I’LL BE WATCHING FOR.

AND THE BIGGEST MATCH-UP HERE IS THE HISTORICALLY GOOD BOMBER DEFENSE AGAINST THE FLEDGLING RIDER OFFENSE. THIS IS THE LOWEST POINTS PER GAME AGAINST FOR WINNIPEG SINCE 1958.

AND OF THE BOMBER BOOK END D-ENDS JACKSON JEFFCOAT AND WILLIE JEFFERSON, FIVE OF THEIR 16 SACKS CAME AGAINST THE RIDERS.

MEANWHILE RIDER QUARTERBACK CODY FAJARDO ACCOUNTED FOR A FULL 80% OF HIS TEAM’S OFFENSE IN LAST WEEK’S SEMIFINAL WIN OVER CALGARY; 189 YARDS PASSING AND 89 RUSHING.

CODY CAN’T DO IT ON HIS OWN, BUT HE CONTINUES TO BE FORCED TO.

AND IF HISTORY MEANS ANYTHING – WHICH I BELIEVE IT DOES – THE WEST FINAL HOST TEAM HAS WON FIVE OF THE PAST SIX MATCHES. OUT EAST, THE FIRST-PLACE TEAM HAS WON THE LAST SIX IN A ROW.

SO … THE BETREGAL.NET BETTING LINE HAS WINNIPEG FAVOURED TO WIN ON SUNDAY BY EIGHT POINTS.

I’LL TAKE THE BOMBERS TO WIN, BY SEVEN OR LESS.

ENJOY THE GAME.

Good analogy; “Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone he slung it and struck the Phillistine in the forehead” Michigan did this to Ohio St and Saskatchewan is going to do the same to Winnipeg in their own town. Saskatchewan since training camp has found a way to win against all odds. We have a screwed up ratio, no deep threats, and inconsistent running game. What we have are a bunch of warriors on offense that get it done. Our special teams can be lights out, and we have a defense. November comes down to QB, Canadians, Kicking… Read more »

I love being the underdog and with Cody’s legs and great kicking and special teams I’ll take the Riders to win on Sunday. If they get past the Bombers the Grey Cup should be theirs. IMO

Saskatchewan = Dreamer, your nothing but a dreamer. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will demolish the struggling Roughriders from Saskatchewan with so much ease it will be embarrassing. Slap them upside the head just as they did in the banjo bowl.

interesting scenario coming out of TO. McLeod Bethal Thompson went to the Raptors game last night and now he has been sent home to quarantine for 4 days – this is a CFL rule. If the CFL waives this, shame on them. If I was the Ticats I would then refuse to play until a potential Covid carrier is taken off the field. Rules are rules, and no adjustments should be made for the Argos. He needs to sit out 4 days, thats it, and that means he misses the east final. heeeeheee Dumb dumb dumb

CFL has now reduced his quarantine to 2 days, so if he passes his testing he can play sunday. But I guess the rules are only there as a guideline and it depends who you are whether they revise the rules or not. So sad how in this case they change the rules to make him eligible to play on Sunday. Now there are 4 other Argo players who also went to the Raptors game and they also have the rules revised for them down to 2 days quarantine so they can play sunday. What a joke the cfl office… Read more »
