FRIDAY DUB ROUND-UP: PATS DOWN WARRIORS

PATS 4 WARRIORS 1

REGINA – Roddy Ross stopped 30-of-31 shots including all 22 his way through the first two periods and Cole Dubinsky had a goal and an assist to lead the Pats (9-10-3) over Moose Jaw (8-12-2).

In the fourth and final meeting of the season between the TransCanada rivals, Regina led 1-0 after one on Dubinsky’s 5th of the year.

Two Pats goals in a 13 second span in the second period broke the back of the Warriors, off the sticks of Layton Feist and Drew Englot. Regina led 3-0 after 40 minutes.

A shorthanded goal by Zack Smith at 3:15 of the third put the Pats up 4-0. Ross’s shutout bid was spoiled at 12:46 of the third period on a knuckleball wrist shot from the Warriors’ Cory King.

The Pats were outshot 31-25 while going 2/3 on the powerplay and 5/5 killing penalties. Brett Mirwald and Boston Bilous split the netminding chores for Moose Jaw.

Regina is next in action Sunday at 8:00 pm versus the Brandon Wheat Kings on AccessNow TV & 620 CKRM.

BLAZERS 3 ROYALS 2

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Fraser Minten’s power-play goal midway through the third period proved to be the difference as the Kamloops Blazers edged the Victoria Royals 3-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Matthew Seminoff and Connor Zary also scored to help the Blazers (10-2-0) to a third straight win.

Brayden Schuurman and Brandon Cutler found the back of the net for the Royals (1-11-1), who are on an eight-game skid.

Kamloops netminder Dylan Ernst only had to make 14 saves for the win. Adam Evanoff kicked out 31-of-34 shots for Victoria.

REGINA – Owen Pederson struck twice, Connor McClennon had a goal and two helpers and Gage Alexander made 25 saves as Winnipeg (16-5-1) improved to 4-0-1 in its last five games with a win over Saskatoon (14-5-3), which is on a four-game slide.

SILVERTIPS 6 CHIEFS 1

SPOKANE, Wash. – Zach Ashton scores his first two goals of the season to help build up a six-goal lead and Dustin Wolf came 1:40 away from his fifth shutout of the season as Everett (13-3-0) downed the Chiefs (4-7-3) for its fourth consecutive win.

ROCKETS 5 COUGARS 1

KELOWNA, B.C. – Jake Pool scored once and set up two more and Roman Basran turned away 24-of-25 shots as the Rockets (4-2-0) dealt Prince George (4-7-2) its fourth loss in a row.

HITMEN 6 HURRICANES 3

CALGARY – Adam Kydd scored two goals 50 seconds apart, the Hitmen (7-6-2) put up four goals in a 3:11 span in the first period, and Brayden Peters stopped 31-of-34 shots to double up Lethbridge (7-9-2).
