MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes promoted Joey Abrams to assistant general manager and added two newcomers to their football operations staff on Friday.

Abrams, who has been with the club in various positions since 2005, was formerly the assistant director of football operations and player personnel.

General manager Jim Popp described the Lavack, Ont., native as “one of the best up and coming young executives in the CFL.”

They also hired lawyer Catherine Raiche as co-ordinator of football administration and Philippe Moreau as football operations assistant.

Sportsnet’s Arash Madani reports the Toronto Argonauts are expected to part ways with Special Teams Coordinator Scott Downing.
Both TSN’s Farhan Lalji and Gary Lawless say the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have had a change of mind and WILL allow defensive coordinator Orlondo Steinhauer to talk with Edmonton about their head coaching position.
TSN’s Matt Sciannitti reports Ticats players Terrell Sinkfield and Courtney Stephens both have tryouts scheduled with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.

TORONTO – University of Iowa wide receiver Tevaun Smith held his top position in the latest Scouting Bureau rankings ahead of the 2016 CFL Canadian Draft.

Smith has 30 catches for 546 yards and three touchdowns for the Hawkeyes this season. The Toronto native will be playing in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 against the Stanford Cardinal.

Manitoba Bisons first-team All-Canadian defensive lineman David Onyemata remained in the No. 2 position. The native of Lagos, Nigeria had 38.5 tackles (31 solo), five sacks and 7 1/2 tackles for a loss.

Oklahoma Sooners offensive tackle Josiah St. John, a Toronto native, rose three spots to No. 3 on Friday’s list. Boston College defensive lineman Mehdi Abdesmad of Montreal and Michigan State defensive back Arjen Colquhoun of Windsor, Ont., rounded out the top five.

The first rankings list for the 2016 list was released in September. The 2016 CFL Combine is scheduled for March and the next rankings list will be released in April.

Hamilton Tiger Cats a NFL calbre franchise due to its dedicated ownership, it's world class team structure/personnel headed by one Mr.Kent Austin.

World class Jack ass is all that comes to most peoples minds when thinking of Kent Austin. He is allowed to bail after one year on his coaching contract in SK. He was also traded by request when he was a player.Yet he screwed Chris Williams and wouldnt allow defensive coordinator Orlondo Steinhauer to talk to the EE for their Head coaching position. Austin can stay in the Hammer.

Maybe it's time to take that banner down at Taylor Field. I would rather see one of Richie Hall up for a while.
