MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Tanner Jeannot scored twice to lead the Warriors past Swift Current 5-3 in Game 1 of their second round WHL series.

Brayden Burke put away the winner for Moose Jaw near the midway point of the third period, while Jayden Halbgewachs and Justin Almeida also scored. Brody Willms made 25 saves in net.

Sahvan Khaira, Andrew Fyten and Tyler Steenbergen supplied the offence for the Broncos. Stuart Skinner kicked out 20 shots for Swift Current.



HURRICANES 5 WHEAT KINGS 1


LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Taylor Ross and Jordy Bellerive had two goals apiece as the Hurricanes blew past Brandon.

The win gave Lethbridge a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Bellerive’s power-play goal at the 9:43 mark of the first was the eventual winner for the Hurricanes. Jadon Joseph also scored for the Hurricanes, while Logan Flodell made 25 saves for the win.

Marcus Sekundiak replied for the Wheat Kings, while Dylan Myskiw turned away 30 shots.

TRI-CITY 7 VICTORIA 0

VICTORIA – Patrick Dea made 27 saves as the Tri-City Americans shut out the Victoria Royals 7-0 on Friday night to win Game 1 of their Western Hockey League second-round playoff series.

Captain Michael Rasmussen scored the eventual winner for the Americans at 11:18 of the first period and later added two assists. Morgan Geekie, Jake Bean, Nolan Yaremko, Dylan Coghlan, Jordan Topping and Parker AuCoin also scored.

Dean McNabb combined with Griffen Outhouse for 32 saves for Victoria.

Tri-City was 1 for 2 on the power play and the Royals were 0 for 3.


WINTERHAWKS 5 SILVERTIPS 2

EVERETT, Wash. – John Ludvig lifted Portland over the Silvertips in the opening game of their playoff matchup.

Jake Gricius, Conor MacEachern, Skyler McKenzie and Cody Glass also scored for the Winterhawks.

Matt Fonteyne and Sean Richards scored for the Silvertips.

Cole Kehler turned away 32 shots for Portland. Carter Hart kicked out 31 shots for Everett.
