FRIDAY RUNDOWN: AUSTIN AND SUTTER!

Fridays are normally reserved for the gridiron but we ventured over to hockey as well as we welcomed a member of hockey’s First Family to Episode #805 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Montreal beats Ottawa 40-33 Thursday night (how much trouble is RedBlacks coach Paul LaPolice in?), 2) In Game 2 of the doubleheader BC downed Hamilton 17-12, 3) Friday Night Football features Winnipeg at Edmonton, 4) Jake Dolegala starts at QB for the Riders Sunday versus Toronto, 5) Who’s your NFL darkhorse team in 2022?, and 6) Is Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray worth $46M per season?
  • Calgary Sun/Herald Stampeders & Flames beat writer Danny Austin joined the show to cover all things CFL and give his thoughts on the Gaudreau/Tkachuck departures. The panel got deep into the officiating *controversies* in the Montreal-Ottawa game and Rod asserted that the CFL won’t be apologizing for anything since the Command Centre got the calls right. Austin admitted it’s been tough to drum up interest for next week’s Blue Bombers/Stampeders game at McMahon Stadium.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by 13-year NHL veteran and Sportsnet analyst Rich Sutter live at Grey Eagle. Rich got into all NHL-related topics including how the Flames were floored at losing Gaudreau. Rich said the Flames’ best course of action is to look ahead, not behind, and will still be a great team. Sutter also discussed Shane Wright not participating in the World Juniors this year for Canada, and predicts Connor Bedard will light it up for Canada at the World Juniors.
  • Hinton, AB’s Bruno Kempin and North Battleford, SK’s Richard Murray won tickets to the World Juniors in Edmonton in our weekly draw for games of their choice.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is your darkhorse team in the NFL this year – Denver, Miami, Vegas or other? At press time, the Raiders were leading.
  • Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Mark Stephen. Friday’s was Rich Sutter!
  • Have a great weekend and we’ll see you Monday at 12 pm ET live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino on Game+ TV and YouTube Live.
