The Calgary Stampeders earned their first win of the season, spoiling the Ottawa Redblacks’ home opener with a 26-15 victory. Calgary forced five Ottawa turnovers in the contest, while getting rushing scores from quarterback Jake Maier and running back Dedrick Mills and a fumble return touchdown from Branden Dozier. Ottawa has now lost 24 of its last 26 at home.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers make a visit to Mosaic Stadium to take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders tonight. Winnipeg, last season’s Grey Cup finalist, enters the contest after a 42-31 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last weekend. Meanwhile, Saskatchewan opened the year with a 17-13 win over the Edmonton Elks.

The Winnipeg Sea Bears (5-2) hit a franchise-record 20 three pointers to halt the Brampton Honey Badgers’ (4-3) win streak at four with a 110-89 blowout victory at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. Teddy Allen, who didn’t record his first field goal attempt until the four-minute mark in the first quarter, had 9 of those 20 threes—tying the CEBL record for most three pointers scored in a single game.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue their nine-game road trip with the opener of a three-game set against the Texas Rangers tonight. The Blue Jays dropped two of three against American League East foe Baltimore Orioles, including a 4-2 loss yesterday. Kevin Gausman gets the start for Toronto, while Martin Perez will be on the mound for Texas.

Jarome Iginla has returned to the Calgary Flames. The team announced yesterday that the Hall of Fame winger will be a special adviser to rookie general manager and former teammate Craig Conroy. Iginla is a two-time Olympic champion and also led the Flames to a Stanley Cup final appearance in 2004.

Canada is now set to face the U-S in Sunday’s CONCACAF Nations League final. Canada defeated Panama in semifinal action behind goals from Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies. Meanwhile, the defending champion Americans topped Mexico 3-0 in the other semifinal.

Dundas, Ontario’s Mackenzie Hughes is the leader among seven Canadians entering today’s second round at the U-S Open golf tournament. Hughes went 3-under 67 yesterday at the Los Angeles Country Club. Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler share the clubhouse lead at 8 under.
